I had such an awesome conversation with Jessica Hiatt, a personal trainer and nutrition coach. Jessica is so much more than a personal trainer. She helps women to heal the mind and spirit as well. It is not often that you find a personal trainer that takes the approach to nurture the mind, body and spirit. In addition, Jessica was so vulnerable to share her story of being in a highly abusive relationship and how that relationship was the catalyst to her healing journey. We also talked about how the perfectionist pattern and self-sabotaging thoughts keep us from staying committed to ourselves. Honestly, we talked about so many things in this episode and it is packed with valuable information.
“We don’t rise to our goals. We fall to the strength and comprehension of our system. We must clarify and strengthen our system through repetition. Sitting, waiting, and regretting is much harder than doing.” -Wes Watson
About Jessica:
I am a personal trainer and wellness coach for middle aged women who are done with the pain and struggle of yo-yo dieting and self sabotage. As a former victim of narcissistic abuse and at one time an unrecovered adult child of alcoholism, it has been a long journey of self discovery, subconscious reprogramming and integration of disciplined self love practices, leading to this time of living out my purpose and sharing my story.

Do you look outside of yourself to get feedback or validation that how you are showing up in the world is good or do you look inward and decide for yourself? We all come into this world to be uniquely ourselves but we somewhere along the way lose sight of that and we wear masks to cover up our true selves. In this episode Kim has a conversation with guest Carrie Klwein Lawrence about the importance of letting go of the need to look outside of ourselves and that we hold the key to our happiness and well-being.
About Carrie:
Carrie Klewin Lawrence (she/her) is a quirky, collaborative stage director focused on social change. Carrie is also a professor, personal branding coach, and mother of three, who enjoys lindy hop, traveling, and photography. As the author of Origin Story, Carrie weaves personal discovery storytelling into a journey of evolution and forward action, encouraging readers to reframe their(self) narrative. Once, when she was ten-years-old, Carrie wrote a play called “Little Red Riding Hood Says NO to Smoking”. Rediscovering that play, and subsequently reframing her own personal narrative, was the inciting incident for Origin Story.

Do you ever feel like you attract people who mistreat you or abuse you? Do you feel like you don’t have the right to speak up and assert yourself with these people? Do you feel like you have to walk on eggshells just to make sure you don’t piss these people off? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions you probably know full well what it is like to be victimized. The truth is that we deserve to be happy and we have the right to speak up and break free from oppression and abuse. It is not an easy road but neither is being on your deathbed wishing that you stood up for yourself. To hear more about how codependents can break free from this cycle listen in.

In this conversation Kim talks with guest Ekua Walker about the importance of helping our children to trust their inner knowing. So often, as children we received messages that what we thought, felt or did was wrong or bad. From this we developed a sense that we should not trust ourselves and thus began listening to others to tell us how to live our lives. This leads to lacking confidence and trust in ourselves. Through Ekua’s BE CALM process she guides parents to show up in a way that parents can connect rather than correct.
My quote is "I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it." Psalm 139:13-14

Do you feel like your life is like living on a hamster wheel? Do you feel like you are living a pattern and not a life? In this episode Kim and guest Whitney Baker, talk about the importance of living life fully each day and in the everyday moments. Rather than wishing for some external event or person making you feel alive, you find ways to feel alive from the inside so that you are living life more fully and authentically. To receive some easy and accessible tools to start shifting your life listen to this episode.
About Whitney:
Whitney Baker founded her company, Electric Ideas, with a mission of lighting women up with a new sense of possibility. Through workshops and other program offerings, she helps women around the globe connect with their inner knowing and move past feeling stuck. Whitney also hosts the globally ranked Electric Ideas podcast, where she discusses ideas and practices to help women come home to themselves and live with greater intention.
Whitney knows what it’s like to leave behind one version of yourself for another and feel caught in between identities, wondering if you will ever really feel like yourself again. In a former life, Whitney was a journalist turned global marketing agency creative, who up-ended it all to stay at home with her kids. During that transition, she felt isolated and anxious that she was losing footing in the professional world. She feared squandering her hard-earned degrees and professional status, and struggled to navigate this murky identity shift. Electric Ideas was born from a place of great healing and hope that other women won’t suffer in the same way.

In this episode Carrie shares her experience and wisdom on the benefit of being your most authentic self in your relationship with yourself and loved ones. Way too often most of us don’t speak up about what we truly want, need and desire in our relationships and half the time we don’t even know what we want. But if we are aware that we are not fulfilled in our intimate relationships, we most likely are too afraid to speak up and communicate what we really want. Life is too short to live in fear of speaking up and being our true authentic selves.
“Every relationship is as unique as you are.”
About Carrie:
International Best-Selling Author, Intuitive and Conscious Relationship Coach, Carrie Jeroslow, teaches people the tools to relate consciously to themselves and others. She believes that when we learn and accept who we truly are, we are able to be more authentic in our relationships with others. This authenticity brings an unparalleled sense of joyfulness and fulfillment to our lives as a whole.
In 2022, she began her podcast, Relationship Diversity Podcast, where she aims to explore, question, and celebrate all aspects of relationship structure diversity from soloamory to monogamy to polyamory, and everything in between. This is an inclusive space, giving people the permission to design their unique relationships from the knowledge and acceptance of their unique selves.
She has been seen on NBC, PBS, The CW, featured in Forbes, Thrive Global, Winston Salem Journal, Prevention and Newsweek, and has been interviewed by Marianne Williamson, Go All In TV, The ListTV, and many others to discuss the ideas in her coaching, as well as in her first book, Why Do They Always Break Up with Me?
