How do healthy habits, hard lifting, gratitude, and Freemasonry help build a better man?
In EP 59 of Masonic Muscle, I continue my conversation with my best friend David Perez, also known as Darkness, about healthy living, commitment, discipline, positive thinking, hard training, family, gratitude, and the parallels between Freemasonry and working out.
David and I talk about what it takes to build better habits after life knocks you around. We discuss meal prep, being aware of your thoughts, taking action, getting outside your comfort zone, and how your actions affect the people around you.
This episode solves one Masonic Muscle problem:
How can a man use fitness, mindset, gratitude, and Freemasonry to become more disciplined, committed, and useful to the people around him?
We discuss:
- healthy habits
- hard lifting
- the power of the mind
- cultivating better thoughts
- meal prep and nutrition
- family, yard work, barbequing, and daily life
- handling the 2020–2022 shutdowns
- taking action instead of making excuses
- gratitude time after workouts
- Freemasonry and exercise
- commitment as the bridge between the gym and the lodge
- discipline, Jocko Willink, and Joe Rogan
- Joe Rogan episode 1800 with Gavin de Becker
- health, immunity, confusion, and personal responsibility
- Jack LaLanne-style self-improvement
- pyramids, time, and ancient wisdom
After our exercise sessions, we have what we call gratitude time, where each man shares something he is grateful for that day.
That matters.
Because training is not only about the body.
Exercise clears the mind.
Gratitude strengthens the spirit.
Discipline shapes the man.
Freemasonry gives him tools.
Hard lifting tests whether he means it.
David brings it down to one word:
commitment.
That is the whole game.
You can talk about change all day. But until you commit, nothing happens.
Build a better you through exercise and Freemasonry.
And remember:
Man fears time, but time fears the pyramids.
