Did Freemasonry begin with the Patriarchs?
In this episode of Masonic Muscle, I return to the exploration of the origins of Masonry and begin looking at one of the oldest and most expansive origin claims: the idea that Masonry traces back to the ancient Patriarchs.
But before we get there, I also talk about the current condition of my lodge, the fact that our charter is still suspended, and why moments like this force a Mason to ask what the Craft really means when things get difficult.
I also discuss my new exercise routine, why I adopted it, and how physical discipline connects to Masonic discipline.
This episode solves one Masonic problem:
Why do so many Masons practice the Craft without seriously asking where Masonry came from, what it claims to be, and how those claims should shape the man?
We discuss:
- the suspended lodge charter
- lodge struggle and Masonic responsibility
- my new exercise routine
- why strength training still matters
- the origins of Masonry
- the Patriarch Theory
- why Masons should study origin claims
- why the Craft needs both historical curiosity and disciplined thinking
- the connection between physical strength and Masonic strength
- why difficult times test whether a man is actually living the lessons
The question is not simply:
Where did Masonry come from?
The better question is:
Why don’t more Masons care enough to investigate it?
If the Craft is supposed to make good men better, then we should know what story we have inherited, what claims have been made about its origins, and whether those claims hold up under pressure.
And if a lodge is struggling, that is not the time to get soft.
That is the time to train harder, think deeper, and become more useful.
