Mavs Outsiders

Bibs went through all of NBA history to determine the 75 GREATEST players to play in the NBA/ABA. Last year's results turned out great but there were tweaks made to the formula to see if the results could be even better. I am incredibly happy with the results and cannot wait for you to see the full list.

In part 5, I give you players numbers 40 through 31. This group has a great range of players. There are no active players but there is a player who played in the first season of the league a lot in the middle and a couple that retired within the past 10 years. We are getting closer to the top 25 so the names you've been waiting for can pop up at any moment.

Tap in with me as we go on this journey.

In this episode of the Mavs Outsiders podcast, Bibs and Reese have a lot to be happy about. The Mavs beat the teams they were supposed to beat (Thunder, Raptors, shorthanded Grizzlies) and they played the Suns close despite the loss. We go through our observations from those games and any takeaways we might have had from individual performances.

In the middle portion of the podcast, Bibs gets on his soapbox to talk about Luka Doncic. In particular, the perception that Luka is looking off KP more than he needs to be for the long-term success of the team. While it is not costing us games at this time, that can always change and it's time to start talking about it.

Finally, Bibs and Reese get into their regular segments. Reese delivers his Unsung Hero of the Week and Bibs does something a little different for the Weekly Forecast.

00:00:00 - 00:18:18 Intros and recaps

00:19:31 - 00:31:34 Luka and KP Talk

00:36:57 - 48:04. Reese's Unsung Hero / Bibs' Weekly Forecast

The Dallas Mavericks went 2-1 in a week that saw them beating the Grizzlies and Magic but losing in embarrassing fashion to the New York Knicks. It was an interesting week of basketball but there was plenty of off-the-court news as well. This week the Mavs got Jason Kidd and Kristaps Porzingis back from health and safety protocols prior to the last game of the week. Prior to this, the team also waived JaQuori McLaughlin and Willie Cauley-Stein. The team also signed Marquese Chriss to a two-year deal. We currently have zero players on the injury report for what feels like the first time since the start of the year. We also have an open 2-way contract still. We are in a great position right now as we make our second-half push.

Now that we can breathe, Reese and Bibs decided to have a little fun and have the audience send in their trade ideas. We graded your trades (harshly) but we did have a few winners. This was a lot of fun.

Of course, we cap it off with Reese's Unsung Hero and Bibs' Weekly Forecast.

In this episode, Bibs and Reese talk about the Dallas Mavericks 6 game win streak. The Mavs are rolling, the team defensive rating is top 5 in the league and a permanent change was made to the starting lineup. At the start of the week, Jason Kidd announced that Luka and Jalen Brunson would be starting together permanently and this marked a significant moment for the future of the team. This week also saw Josh Green post multiple career-high scoring games with 17 points against the Rockets and 18 points against the Bulls. It's officially Sugar Glider season.

After that, we got into our All-Star votes. Not just the starters but the full teams. There were some interesting differences but not many. There is still a while to go so we'll see what happens before we get there.

In this episode, Reese and Bibs fail miserably at keeping the episode short yet again. We spent a good bit of time going over the games before we finally got to your mailbag questions. There were a lot of good questions and we had some fun with them. After that, Reese chose a verrrrrrry interesting Unsung Hero of the week before Bibs' Weekly Forecast. In the early part of the show, our boys rambled a bit about the movie industry, and that conversation was put at the end of the show to save you the trouble.

The Dallas Mavericks went 3-1 this week so it was a good week. We also got Luka back for the last game and the team will have some decisions to make about the roster. Let's hope they make the right ones.
