Media Obscura - Retro and Obscure TV/Movie Reviews

Happy New Year! Nick and Mike sit down and check out the animated series based on the Back to the Future Trilogy. They also talk Max Headroom, New Years Resolutions, and about Nick's mortality. Business as usual.

With Mike lost in a hall of mirrors, Nick enlists his buddy Raekwon to help him watch the Arnold Schwarzenegger Christmas film "Jingle All The Way." They also imagine a world where the movie spawned an MCU-esque cinematic universe.

Nick and Mike decide to check out another Jackie Chan thingy, the 1993 movie "City Hunter." Nick and Mike also check out Eggroll's live performance of "No Satisfaction" from NYC Public Access in the 80's.

Nick and Mike tackle Jackie Chan Stuntmaster on the Sony Playstation, a video game that was released in the year 2000 and... What were we talking about? Things get very off topic this week.

It's the first music episode of The Media Obscura Podcast! With Mike stuck in the shame-cab, Nick gets another one of his childhood friends, Jackson Maxwell, to help him take a look at an album that was once postulated to be a "secret Beatles album." It wasn't. In fact, it isn't even that bad. Also in the show, Nick and Jackson reminisce about a band Nick wanted to form, Nick gets a bunch of information wrong because he didn't do his homework before the episode, and- is anyone still reading this?

Nick and Mike (but mostly Nick) spiral into insanity when they decide to watch the Rocky parody film "Ricky I" in anticipation of Creed II. Nick waxes poetic about the time bending scenerios that could spawn such a film, while Mike wins the title of "Most Kickable Face" in Pink Flamingo magazine.

Nick and Mike sit down for the very first episode of the Media Obscura podcast! On todays episode, they check out CBS' TV movie/backdoor pilot for their Spider-Man television series, starring Nicholas Hammond as Peter Parker. The series ran for two seasons and, despite being a huge part of Nick's sophomore year of high school, was not very good... Or even kinda good.
