his is the third and final part of my interview with Yunrong Xu, a psychotherapist based in Germany.
In this episode, Yunrong shares what inspired her and Hongfei to found the "Mental Health Network for Overseas Chinese" — the moments that broke her heart:
• The roommate who didn't leave his room for two years — a former master's graduate from Tongji University, eventually sent back to China by ambulance
• The PhD student who stood on the train tracks
• The person who jumped from a windowsill and was saved by the snow
These once outstanding young people didn't start out this way. They were simply alone in a foreign country, with no one to care for them, no one to turn to — slowly crushed by challenges big and small.
Yunrong also tells us what the Network offers:
• Free monthly online lectures
• Free one-on-one support hotlines twice a week (Wednesday evenings + Sunday afternoons)
And how each of us can do our part to help those around us.
💡 A gentle reminder
In your hardest moments, you don't have to carry it alone. There are people willing to listen, willing to walk with you. You can bravely reach out for help.
I myself, along with Yunrong, Hongfei, and the Dutch Chinese Children's Foundation, are all building support systems to help those in need.
