Mel’s Morning Musings 1 - Expand Your World

Sometimes you have to give yourself enough space to expand your world.
We become narrow focused a lot of times, just extremely narrow and our thoughts are shallow.
Where we should not let this happen … I mean we should think deeply. Right? Deep … deeply! And broad … I mean just widen the path … you know? Widen and deepen.
So the narrow focus is good and sometimes laser focus is even excellent on specific tasks.
But, don’t forget to pan out, (and) look at the big picture. Because sometimes the big picture (is) where you’ll see things like, “Oh, wait, you know this is the big picture but, it’s not … like I can expand this even more.” So narrow … you can call it narrow minded, I guess. Because when you are narrow minded, you’re just thinking of just the smallest amount where you could broaden your mind and open up to new possibilities. Things you may not have considered before. You know look into things that maybe you didn’t think you were interested in. I mean try something new, like totally new out of your element, even out of your comfort zone and see what happens. See if it opens doors for you. See if it opens your mind to new possibilities.
Life is not just one thing … and a lot of times we get into that rut and that’s all we can think about. And we don’t expand and venture out and explore and experiment. You know be like a child, a child will experiment with a lot of things. Now, sure, do they get hurt sometimes, and yes we can, but then others you know they find out, “Oh, wow, you know, I really enjoyed that!”, “I didn’t think I would enjoy that! … Friggin Awesome!”, and they’ll do it again! And you know soon that becomes a part of their life. But, you know… and especially when you become an adult, you got a lot of responsibilities and blah blah blah and now this and you don’t want to… you know, “I don’t have time!” and uh… so many millions of excuses, when shoot man you’re just missing out on your opportunity.
So try something new. Try something daring! Try something out of your comfort zone! Just get out there and explore life. I mean, as far as I know, we are only here once. Yeah? And you know we could be here more than once, but it’s not going to be in the same body. You’re not going to be the same person, in essence, because it's just going to be a totally different situation.
But while you’re here now in this body … presently … you know that’s why it’s so good to live in the present. How do you feel right now? What do you feel like doing today? Yeah? You know tomorrow we don’t have… you know and yesterday is not here either. There’s another video I saw that’s pretty cool, you know. And like the two things you can’t do anything about!
I can’t do anything about yesterday … I have no control over tomorrow.
All I can do about anything is right now! I mean right now I’m talking to you creating a podcast. It is something I am choosing to do. Right?
Now by the time you hear it, it will be in my past. Right? Because it will be something that is already done. Once I launch the podcast I can’t go change it. Well, I mean well, I could replace it, but I can’t change it, it’s done!
So what I need to say to you now, I need to say to you NOW, cause I can’t change it… Right?
Same thing!
So … think of your life as a recording, like right now is what you can do something about.
Once it’s etched in, you can’t change it. Yeah! I have no control over the future, I could you know, not be here tomorrow. Same for you!
So … think about that! You know let that sink in … maybe there’s something more to this live in the present moment right now. Right?
You know what … what things can you do right now to make your situation better?
To make your life happier … to make your life worth living … to make it like awesome! Right? Why not!
Doesn’t it suck! You know that’s uh… I mean WE SUCK THE LIFE OUT OF OURSELVES … by talking about the past that we can do nothing about.
