Mel’s Mindful Moments S1-E115
It’s okay to indulge every now and then, but be careful!
You don’t want to get to a point where it consumes you.
There should never be anything that has that much control over you.
And it can be almost anything, food, drugs, alcohol, smoking … the list goes on.
If we let these things get out of control, it’s never a good thing.
There are consequences as a result of overdoing it.
Sometimes we overindulge to numb the pain of something, or a way of dealing with stress or other emotions.
In these cases, that could make the situation even more complicated.
And sometimes we need to seek professional help in those cases.
If this describes what you may be experiencing, I have some suggestions for you.
Find alternative less harmful things that you can do, be it hobbies, or other interest that can keep you actively engaged, keep your hands busy and your mind diverted from the situation.
If you have a close friend that you can confide in, one that you trust, you can express your feelings (which) may help you discover new ways of how to approach your situation.
Try meditating as a means of relaxing your mood, clearing your mind and emotions. This may help to relieve your stress.
Sometimes getting a massage or spa treatments can relieve your stress as well.
If you like sports, running, bike riding or hiking, this is an excellent stress reducer. Even if you just go for a walk in the morning or evening will help you. It’s very important that we take care of ourselves. We are not just one level, we have our physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual needs. Emotional and stressful situations can and will effect our whole being.
So, if this podcast describes what you’re going through… then I encourage you to try some of these suggestions.
