Dick Heft grew up on a farm in rural Floyd County Iowa. The family farm provided the perfect habitat for pheasants and early in his life Dick was exposed to bird hunting with his family and their dog. After taking his first rooster, Dick was hooked on upland hunting and at age 78 he continues to enjoy being in a field with good hunting dogs and a fine shotgun.
