Dr. Mark McDowell shares a message from Ezekiel 34 where we see that God doesn’t give life to our worst fears, but instead He come alongside us through those fears.

In looking at the story of Moses and the burning bush from Exodus 3, Rob points out three things that God does in this text: He comes down to us, cares for us, and makes himself known. Give a listen as we continue in our Exodus series.

We continue with our Exodus study by encountering Chapter 2, which invites us to see that what God would do for the people of Israel, He has already done for us. Rob explains, “Their hope was our hope and it came in the person of a little baby boy, a little baby boy who was born into a situation where even at birth he was in danger of death. A little baby boy who also was rejected by his own people. A little baby boy who grew up and went out into the wilderness for 40 days where he was prepared for ministry, where he was prepared as the deliverer of God’s people, where he was tempted and tested in the cruelest of ways. A boy who also met a woman by a well and gave her water for life. A man who saw the suffering of his people and was filled with indignation and knew that he must do something about thir situation. But here’s where the change takes place - He knew that their rescue would not come by the way of the sword but that the rescue of them would come by way of his own suffering in their place … and by his death rescue came.”

Exodus 1:22 says, “Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, ‘Every son that is born to the Hebrews you shall cast into the Nile, but you shall let every daughter live.’” The Israelites were multiplying in Egypt, and the Egyptians “were in dread” (1:12) Life became very difficult for the Israelites, and it’s at this point the question may have been asked, “Where is God?” In beginning our new series on Exodus, Rob invites us to ask the difficult questions and then to look to our Redeemer who has already stood in our place.
