  • 24. Coach and Entrepreneur Gai Comans on How to Survive and Thrive After Breast Cancer

    “No matter what I was told I was always focused on, ‘I’ll prove you wrong.'” ~ Gai Comans
    Gai Comans was a “corporate perfectionist” when, at the age of 38, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and given a one-in-ten chance of survival.
    One. In. Ten.
    It’s been nearly 15 years since her doctors handed her that death sentence and not only did Gai survive the odds, she is thriving. Saying goodbye to her corporate identity has turned her into an entrepreneur on a mission to show other women how to defy the odds.
    Also in this episode we talk about:

    * How standing on a bridge in Florence, Italy was the moment that set Gai free;
    * Why she’s taking a group of women back to Tuscany, to that very same bridge;
    * How her diagnosis took her out of corporate and into the world of entrepreneurialism;
    * How Gai’s shift from survival to living took every ounce of courage and strength;
    * The day Gai realized she could be an inspiration for women like her–women who’ve been told to get their “affairs in order.”

  • 23. Entrepreneur and Coach Margie Beiswanger on Signature Products for The Life Coach
    “Anything you’re doing is just for now.” ~ Margie Beiswanger
    I love scientist-turned-entrepreneur Margie Beiswanger’s approach to doing business: Anything you’re doing is just for now. Brilliant! We don’t have to create the perfect business that will stand the test of time because it’s very likely we’re going to grow personally and professionally and our business will grow with us. Margie’s “thing” is creating signature products for online entrepreneurs and what’s interesting is the way she does it: backwards. She starts with your signature program and then creates an entire business plan around it.
    Here’s what else we talk about:

    * If you’re trading dollars for hours your perceived value is diminished;
    * Creating a signature product will help you establish the foundational steps entrepreneurs tend to ignore;
    * Why spending “big money” up front, especially on a website, is a waste;
    * Why it’s so important, even if you’re a brand new business, to “get something out there” and make it “real”;

  • 18. Life Coach Jeannette Maw on Passion, Productivity and The Law of Attraction
    “The only reason we ever want anything is because of how we think it’s going to make us feel when we have it.” ~ Jeannette Maw
    Curious about how to use the law of attraction to create a business you love and that makes money? Jeannette Maw doesn’t believe in traditional marketing; she has no intention of going out to get clients–she intends for people to find her, instead.
    And it works! Jeannette is a highly successful “good vibe” coach who considers walking her dog as a routine part of being an entrepreneur. Why? Because she believes that whatever feels good is what gets you to a happy ending.
    It’s all about “vibration management” and it’s fascinating conversation that’s filled with some woo woo, tears, and Jeanette’s infectious laugh.
    Also in this episode we talk about:

    * Finding your passion is like going on a treasure hunt.
    * How finding her passion cost Jeannette some friendships.

  • 17. Dr. Harriet Lerner Part 2: Fear and Relationships
    “Fear makes us afraid of the dark. Shame makes us afraid of the light.” ~ Dr. Harriet Lerner
    This is Part 2 of my interview with Dr. Harriet Lerner. Please go back and listen to Part 1 in iTunes if you haven’t already… we talk about anger and all that it’s there to teach us.  I also share how Dr. Lerner, through her book, The Dance of Anger, came to be my guiding light when my first marriage ended in divorce.
    In Part 2 we talk about what it means to be the one who is “over-functioning” in a relationship–a role most women can relate to–and how it’s your responsibility to STOP DOING THAT! (wink)
    I’d love to hear what you think about all the juicy stuff we talk about: come visit me on my Facebook page and share your thoughts, and then I’ll share mine and then you can respond, etc. etc. It’ll be fun.
    If you’d like to learn more about Dr. Lerner, visit her website, HERE.
    You can also read an excerpt from Dance of Anger HERE.
    Once again, here’s Part 1, in case you missed it.

    “The only way to avoid rejection is to sit mute in a corner and not take any risks.” ~ Dr. Harriet Lerner
    I LOVE this woman! Dr. Harriet Lerner is the author of the New York Times bestseller (over 3 million copies sold!), Dance of Anger. She’s also had a tremendous influence on my life… I’ve read every one of her books, but Dance of Anger is the one that put me on a path, so long ago; it’s path that has forced me to step up and live my life with integrity.
    Dr. Lerner’s book was given to me when I was in the midst of a divorce so many years ago and I believe that it was one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. Dr. Lerner, a clinical psychologist, says “anger is a signal, and one worth listening to.”
    Also in this episode we talk about:

    * How Dance of Anger was rejected for five years before it was published.
    * How even the smallest acts of courage are so important.
    * How it takes some serious gutsiness to stand up to shame.
    * Dr. Lerner’s advice for women who do too much.

    “Being willing to say ‘no’ to clients you don’t want to work with strengthens your ability to ask for money you deserve.” ~ Patty Lennon
    There’s an unlimited amount of money in the world, so why shouldn’t some of it go to you? That’s the question Patty Lennon asks and answers and in doing so she is determined to convince more and more women that they can make money from home and still be there for their families.
    Patty also makes a bold admission: she used to not like being a mom; in fact, the realization brought her to her knees. She openly talks about how she got herself back up and how other moms who struggle to live up to the ‘mommy ideal’ can learn from her.
    Here’s what else we talk about:

    * Why we need more moms “at the table.”
    * Why you must listen to your gut in order to run a successful business.
    * How to know whether to stay or leave the corporate world.
    * What to say when a potential client says she “can’t afford” your services.
    * The three things you must do to grow your business.
