Founding Pastor Rick Duncan brings us into the next to last week of the ReCalibrate teaching series in the book or Revelation. Pastor Rick looks at the story of the church in Philadelphia from Revelation 3:7-13. The Church in Philadelphia gets a resounding thumbs up with no thumbs down. Why? They work, and even though they have little power (evidently small in number, resources, and influence) they keep Christ's words and are fearless and faithful in the face of persecution. They patiently endure. They are commanded to "hold fast."

Josh Stone, Pastor of Community Life and Leadership, brings us the fifth message in the ReCalibrate series on the seven letters to the churches in Revelation. Pastor Josh will show us through the letter in Revelation 3:1-6 how the church in Sardis got a thumbs down for looking alive but being spiritually dead.

Pastor Dale Piscura, Pastor of Men's Discipleship, brings us into the fourth week of the ReCalibrate series in Revelation. Pastor Dale will look at Revelation 2:18-29 and show us that the church in Thyatira was a divided church in need of repentance. This church in Thyatira was housing two factions: a group that was a faithful remnant "who have not learned what some call the deep things of Satan", and those who "tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess". Where do we see ourselves in this passage?

Pastor Josh Stone, Community Life and Leadership, takes us into the third week of the ReCalibrate series in the book of Revelation. Pastor Josh will be looking at Revelation 2:12-17, where he will show us that Satan has set traps for God's people. These traps are in every aspect of our lives. It is the responsibility of fellow Christians to warn and to exhort friends about those traps. It is unloving not to warn someone about a trap that will destroy their lives. Exhorting is loving.

Founding Pastor Rick Duncan brings us the second message in the series from the seven letters to the seven churches in Revelation as he looks at Revelation 2:8-11. In this passage, the church at Smyrna did not receive a "thumbs down" from Jesus, only a "thumbs up." They faced tribulation, poverty, slander, suffering, and imprisonment for the purpose of testing. They are given 2 commands: 1) Fear not and 2) Be faithful (even unto death). Presumably, they were given grace to obey those 2 commands. The promise? They were given the crown of life; they conquered, and they were not hurt by the second death.

Founding Pastor Rick Duncan opens up the first teaching series of 2018, ReCalibrate, with a powerful yet encouraging sermon from Revelation 2:1-7. In this letter to the church of Ephesus, Jesus commends them for the hard work and toil they do on His behalf, yet reprimands and encourages them to return their attention to loving Christ first and foremost.

Ryan Edlind, a counselor at Grace Church and former Pastor of Care Ministries at CVC for 7 years, brings us the New Year's first message from Romans 12:1-2. Pastor Ryan will show us that true spiritual change is about the pursuit of a "renewed mind." But how can we do this? We will explore concepts relating to God's merciful work and the role we play in worshipful surrender to Him. We will discuss a Scripture-based pathway where people can find "new life" as living sacrifices and specifically how their journey can positively impact their mental health.

Lead Pastor Chad Allen concludes the 'Tis the Season teaching series with a look at Matthew 2:1-12. At Christmas we often sing "come let us adore Him", but we tend to practice "come let us ignore Him". The birth of Christ is an invitation to know Christ, love Christ and worship Christ. We will look at three responses to the birth of Christ from the Magi narrative: Herod, the chief religious leaders, and the Magi. Herod felt threatened. The religious felt indifferent. The wise men felt joy. Which one best describes you?

Founding Pastor Rick Duncan brings us to the fourth week of the 'Tis the Season teaching series leading up to Christmas 2017. Pastor Rick will be looking at Isaiah 9:2-7 as he shows us that we have a need for and, therefore, a hope for great leadership that is characterized by light, wisdom, victory, perspective, and peace. But we don't put our ultimate hopes in any earthly leader, no matter how great he or she might be. We hope in Him and Him alone! The child that was born, the Son that was given, Jesus! He is our best and brightest and surest reason for great hope.

Pastor of Community Life and Leadership Josh Stone brings us the third message in the "Tis the Season" teaching series leading up to Christmas Eve. Pastor Josh will be looking at Luke 2:25-33 and the fact that God's patience is on display in his plan. Patience shines a light on the gospel and the glory of God. We all need patience. We will learn to be patient as God is patient.
