As a follow-up to Episode 192, we adopt a similar stance to Episode 193 and take a "now what?" stance. In 192, Bob was really fired up about some issues he sees across the agile world. What should our listeners do with that info? This episode attacks that question head-on. Is Scrum really that bad? Is Scrum even the issue? What do you think? Let's discuss!!!

Episode 189 covered how to get your first Scrum Master job. Quite a few of our listeners recently landed their first Scrum Master gigs, so we though it might be helpful to offer up a few tips & tricks for the first few weeks in a new role. We believe that much of this advice can apply to any role, so definitely give it a listen to see how it can help you!
What advice would you have for anyone transitioning into a new role. Let's discuss!!

Charlotte - Women in Agile & Dottie Rose
As I mentioned, Rhiannon and I shared a D&I talk recently at the Charlotte Women in Agile group - https://www.meetup.com/WIA-Charlotte/events/276693551/
In that session, two folks from the Dottie Rose Foundation spoke about some work they were involved in bringing STEM and computer training to young girls/women in Kenya. It inspired me and Dottie Rose sounds like a wonderful organization with a mission that aligns with our Meta-cast vision: https://dottierosefoundation.org/
African Agility
This is the group I've been supporting for around a year. I was introduced to them thru Aanu Gopald. They're doing fantastic work in Nigeria. I actually donate regularly to these folks based on proceeds from my CAL classes. VERY worthwhile!

Fresh Agile Voices
A friend of mine, Anthony Mersino, has begun to do short recordings intended to get new voices, diverse voices a stage or platform to be heard. He calls it Fresh Agile Voices.
He recently invited me to record a session talking about my focus and passion around my (and OUR) D&I efforts. You can see the series here - https://vitalitychicago.com/?s=fresh+agile+voices&post_type=post
The recording isn't "live" yet. My recording is
Wow. Bob is fired up! Hear why Bob is fed up with Scrum (note the uppdercase "S", because it is intentional) and why he thinks it's doing more damage than good for the agile community (note the lowercase "a"). We'd love to hear your views on this topic, so jump into the conversation on our Discord server (details below). Let's discuss!!!

Love it, or hate it, The Game of Thrones sat at the head of the entertainment table for quite a long time. Bob pulled out some quotes/moments/sayings from the series and we're using those items as discussion topics.
What key moments did we miss that can be applied to agile? Which of our interpretations do you disagree with? Let's discuss!

We bet you groan every time you hear the word "roadmap". Many of us have been through the scrummerfall approach of establishing a roadmap at the start of the year and then either ignoring it completely or blindly following it.
We're here for you. This episode helps you build and maintain roadmaps that continuously add value. Yeah. For real. You can do this!!!

There is no "normal" path to becoming a Scrum Master. So many of us come from different backgrounds, education, and careers, which makes it great. But how exactly do you break through that first time without a standard path laid out in front of you? We're here to help! Listen to this episode and then jump into our Discord server (details below) to dig in even more.

Sit back and listen to the next meeting of your working group. Count the number of people that speak up. You might find that only a couple of folks actually engage in the conversation. If so, your team is leaving a ton of value on the table by not including all of the amazing people on your team. This episode helps you solve that problem!
Let us know how your team adopted these new approaches. Do you have any other ideas to solve this challenge? Let's discuss!

You can't escape them. Buzzwords are EVERYWHERE!!!
Unfortunately, they crop up at the worst times because buzzwords are often called into action when the speaker isn't completely clear on what the buzzword actually means. We dig into some of our industry's most common buzzwords to help you clear the fog and gain clarity on what you SHOULD be talking about with your peers.

Whether you know it or not, your position carries privilege. If you're not aware of the privilege, you may be misusing that privilege. Let's dig in and see if you are maximizing the privilege you have. If you aren't maximizing it, or maybe you realize you are misusing it, that's OK. We're here to help!
How has privilege helped or hindered you? Let's discuss1
