It's March 2026- and this is an Encore Presentation of our episode with Michael B. Jordan, who just won the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in "Sinners". Michael was a guest on my podcast back in February 2013. We had just gotten back from the Sundance Film Festival, where Michael's movie "Fruitvale Station" had premiered. It was also the feature directorial debut of a new filmmaker named Ryan Coogler. The movie won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award, which only a few films have done. I knew I had just witnessed something magical happen and that Michael's life would never be the same. I wanted to capture the  magic of that moment, so we recorded this interview while we were still on that Sundance high. We did a deep dive into Michael's life & career. We talked about how a kid from Newark, New Jersey made it in Hollywood, including TV shows like "The Wire", "Friday Night Lights", & "Parenthood" and movies like "Chronicle" and, of course "Fruitvale Station".
