It's an apartment in an old stone building. A huge labyrinth of rooms and wooden staircases, and I'm here on my own, apart from yourself, and I'm reflecting this week on that thing called a retreat. 

I used to come to Warsaw for about 6 weeks in the winter and go home with the guts of a new book. But this year I'm just here for 7 days. It's still fantastic. A cold frosty city of magical light and life. I love it. Join me in the castle to share my intimate feelings about all this. And of course I'm sharing a few stories as well. Welcome.

Delighted to share this; it's a meditation about what Buddhists might call emptiness. But it's also a simple technique that I use to keep sane. Basically it's like this - I believe, I become enthusiastic, and then it slips away. So I let it go, and relish the space of non-belief. I don't judge myself as good or bad because I believe or don't believe. I take them both as like the weather. Faith comes like the tide. it comes in. Then it goes out. So I walk the empty strand, and that too is ok. In fact this oscillating from one to the other is a very buddhist thing, a diamond drill whereby the mind reaches a clearer light. 

But don't worry; it's a very simple reflection this weekend. And I hope you enjoy.
