Whether you believe you can or you believe you can't, you are correct.

If you believe that you are limited to minimum wage jobs, then you will only seek minimum wage jobs. Many of the greatest advancements in my life we caused by nothing more than a shift of mindset, when I discovered something new was possible. Something I could have done all along, but only when I realized I could do it did I begin to do it.

A lot of people tell me that people don't listen to them. It would be great if everyone was actively listening to those around them. Unfortunately, people are busy. They are distracted. They are often overwhelmed.

If you want people to listen, you need to make yourself heard, and part of that it making sure that when you are trying to communicate you are getting attention. If your message becomes a constant droning, it will be ignored, so, unlike my cat, make sure your communication is intentional and forceful.

For too long, coaching was little more than a hobby for me. I didn't have the confidence that people would value what I could offer. I was afraid of rejection so I did not ask.

When I found the confidence, an amazing thing happened. I asked, and people said yes. People got excited about what I could offer them, were happy to pay for it, and I made their lives better with what I could do for them.

I have an anxious cat. I joke that I am her emotional support animal. We used to have a problem with her tossing her kibble every time she ate, and it occurred to me that the problem might be her anxiety, so I started giving her calming attention when she ate, and the problem mostly went away.

When we have problems, we often overlook the simplest, most human solutions. We look for drugs and technologies and complex answers. Sometimes the solution is a simple conversation, a question, or even just a calming back rub.

Many years ago, I wanted to start a particular project and I didn't think I was ready to start publicizing it. It got some very good advice. "You'll never feel ready." They were entirely correct, so I just got started.

In anything you start, you will often feel you're not ready. You don't have the education. You don't have the experience. You don't have the connections. You don't have the money. You don't have the equipment. As my friends in New Jersey might say, "fuggedabodit!"

Start where you are. You'll never be "ready." Even if you made a list of everything you think you need, once you had all that, you'd discover you didn't need half those things and you need a dozen more you didn't think of.

It doesn't matter how long you drive south if your destination is to the north. Before you can begin trying to better yourself or your business it is crucial that you have a very honest conversation with yourself about what you really and truly want the outcome to be. Without that, nothing else matters.

You might look at someone whom you see as successful and as "how did they get so lucky?" Luck is often a matter of pointing yourself in the right direction and being willing to take more shots at the goal than anyone else.

If you deal with people, you'll deal with some people who are negative influences. It could be someone with absurd beliefs online. It could be someone who has taken a disliking to you for some reason. It could just be a random jerk. Your instinct may be to let 'em have it. You want to show them what's what.

Resist that instinct because it does not benefit you. When you get in a mud fight, you both get dirty. The best way to win is to ignore them, move on, and win at life.

Don't let them build a nest in your head.
