I am a fanboy of surfing history. When I have the privilege of conversation with those who were here before us within our surfing ecosystem, and they happen to be heavy hitters of the surfing community as surfers, shapers, historians, producers, innovators, human beings and so on..... I listen, I ask and I listen some more. Such was the case with legendary surfer/shaper and human being, California's Michel Junod.
Michel, at 76 years of age has a surfing resume and trajectory that is longer than the traffic jam line to exit Dodger Stadium. If there was a formula to quantify surfing legend status, I doubt he wouldnt be towards the top of his generation.
On this episode he entertains us with vivid memories and anecdotes of his surfing journey. We go deep in longboard design, surf culture and even dabble a bit on politics and policies that have influenced his direction in life.
Thank you for listening and I'll see you in the water!
