If we say yes to anything that doesn’t help us make progress on our goals, our values and our purpose in life, then we are giving away the time and energy we could be using on the things that matter. Thinking through what is worth your time is the first step. Then we need to be bold enough to say no to two persuasive people – other people that we care about, and to ourselves. Saying no to yourself is being brutally honest about what you’re doing with your time and if it’s in your best interest to keep doing it. When you feel like you can’t find time to make progress on things that are deeply important to you … learn how to say no to the people and projects that are overtaking your time.

Continuing on from episode 38 about our purpose in as parents of adult children. A powerful practice that changes how you feel about your children and how you show up as a parent is being able to envision a future when it all works out for them. We can trust that even the challenges in their lives are leading them to a bright future. Along with that, if our life is centered on our children then we will be on a roller coaster of emotion depending on what they are doing. We can serve them better by being centered on our own emotional stability, personal growth and connection with God. When you’re wondering how to support your grown up kids… imagining their best future can be just what they need.
