"He isn't dead, San. He is here with us now, telling us, it's time for both of us to live."
This week on the show, we are premiering a brand new segment called MIDNIGHT REWIND, wherein we celebrate our favorite anime classics! While we will discuss elements we love and even some that we don’t, Midnight Rewind is not meant to be so much a review of these films, but instead a celebration of some of our favorite Eastern animations and the impact they’ve had on us throughout our lives.
For this episode, we discuss one of the greatest Studio Ghibli films of all time: 1997's Princess Mononoke. We dive deep into the history of the film, Hayao Miyazaki himself, and the lasting impact Studio Ghibli has had on the world with its beautiful creations.
"While protecting his village from rampaging boar-demon, a confident young warrior, Ashitaka, is stricken by a deadly curse. To save his life, he must journey to the forests of the West. Once there, he's embroiled in a fierce campaign that humans were waging on the forest.
The ambitious Lady Eboshi and her loyal clan use their guns against the gods of the forest and a brave young woman, Princess Mononoke, who was raised by a wolf god. Ashitaka sees the good on both sides and tries to stem the flood of blood."
