Midwestern State is ready to kick off its conference campaign after finishing 4-1-0 in non-conference matches. MSU played the Sadé Boswell led Missouri Southern Lions in Joplin, Missouri, and suffered its first loss of the season, 1-0. Boswell was a two-year assistant coach at Midwestern State before taking over at Missouri Southern. The Mustangs open up the LSC portion of the schedule on the road at Lubbock Christian on Wednesday at 5 p.m. The Lady Chaps are 2-2-1 with wins over Adams State and New Mexico Highlands. The Stang Gang returns home on Saturday for an 11 a.m. match against UT Tyler, which is 5-0-0 with a plus-20 goal differential.

Midwestern State completed its three-match road trip to start the season with a 2-2 draw against Rogers State in Claremore, Oklahoma on Thursday afternoon and is 1-0-2 entering its home opener. The Mustangs host the MSU Soccer Fall Festival this week. MSU will tangle with Fort Hays State at 7 p.m. on Thursday night, and square off with Southern Nazarene on Saturday night at 7 p.m. The event begins at 5 p.m. on Thursday as Southern Nazarene meets Eastern New Mexico. The Greyhounds face Fort Hays State at noon on Saturday.

Midwestern State pulled out a 1-0 road win at Oklahoma Baptist to improve its record to 4-0-0 at the start of the season. Midwestern State's Nyxalee Munoz converted a free kick from inside the offensive end of half way in the 56th minute as the Mustangs won their first away match of the season. This week, MSU is traveling to Joplin, Missouri, to face Missouri Southern at Hal Bodon Field in a final non-conference clash before beginning its run through the LSC. Madison Brinkley is leads the conference with four goals after scoring twice in a 3-1 victory over Central Oklahoma.

Midwestern State opens the Lone Star Conference campaign on the road at Eastern New Mexico on Saturday night at Greyhound Stadium. The Mustangs are coming off a bye week after starting the season with a 1-1 record. MSU has been preparing to play the Greyhounds triple-option offense in its first conference tilt of the season. ENMU is coming off a 26-20 loss to Angelo State in its LSC opener on Saturday night. The Greyhounds are 2-1 to start the season after routing New Mexico Highlands, 63-37, and defeating Sul Ross State in a non-conference matchup, 36-17.

Midwestern State played four matches in the Denton Volleyfest and faced dogged competition. The Mustangs fought through competitive sets against Colorado Christian, Pittsburg State, Henderson State and Arkansas-Fort Smith. Head coach Stephanie Radecki learned a lot about her team in the heat of battle. This week, Radecki is hoping to see the team earn victories against Eastern New Mexico, Western New Mexico and Sul Ross State in the LSC Volleyball Preview at Greyhound Arena in Portales, New Mexico. The matches against conference opponents do not count in the conference standings. MSU opens conference play at home against Angelo State on Friday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m.

Midwestern State opened the season with a five-goal outburst as Mere Escobar and Eduardo Cerna each score twice in a 5-3 victory at MSU Denver on opening day. Escobar scored again at Regis as Midwestern State settled for a 1-1 draw against the Rangers, who scored on a PK in the 81st minute. Escobar was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week. The Mustangs complete a three-game road trip to start the season with a Thursday matinee at Rogers State. Midwestern State rolled up 440 yards of total offense as junior quarterback Sean Jastrab completed 30 of 51 passes for 395 yards in a 38-33 loss to No. 15-ranked Western Colorado at the Mountaineer Bowl in Gunnison, Colo., on Saturday night. Jaiden Burnett sparked the Mustangs with a 98-yard touchdown return and was named the LSC Special Teams Player of the Week. MSU showed a lot of positive signs in the second game of the season, but head coach Rich Renner wants to see the team correct the mistakes that kept the Mustangs from beating a formidable opponent on the road. The Mustangs are idle on Saturday before opening conference play on the road at Eastern New Mexico.
