Midwestern State made its annual trek to the Great Northwest and faced Central Washington at Tomlinson Stadium for the third time in program history. Matthew Duncan threw a 77-yard touchdown pass to Washington native Adam Johnson at the start of the third quarter, and the Mustangs made it a one-possession game with the Wildcats leading, 21-14. But CWU pulled away for a 42-21 victory, and MSU is still winless in Ellensburg, Washington. This week, the Mustangs are home to face Western Oregon, which is coming off its first conference loss of the season, falling to Texas A&M-Kingsville at home last week, 21-14. Midwestern State seeks a third consecutive win in the all-time series with Western Oregon and its third home victory of the 2024 campaign.

Escobar leads the LSC and is sixth in the nation with 12 goals this season, and the Austin native has 56 career goals for the Mustangs, which is just two shy of the school record.

The Stang Gang dropped the first set at SWOSU, 20-25, but rallied to win the next three sets, 25-23, 25-23, 29-27, to end the Bulldogs eight-match winning streak. Midwestern State improved its overall record to 10-10 with the non-conference victory in Weatherford, Oklahoma. SWOSU is now 13-7 overall and leading the Great American Conference with an 8-1 record against GAC opponents. Demi Stauffenberg had a season-high 17 kills and 21 digs in the victory. MSU returns to conference play with matches at Cameron and Oklahoma Christian this weekend.

Midwestern State is in its toughest stretch of the season after suffering a 44-7 loss to Angelo State last week, the Mustangs visit Central Washington this week. Angelo State scored off an early turnover and exploded for 27 points in the second quarter. The Mustangs scored their only points with a 15-playm 70-yard drive that consumed 8:19 off the fourth quarter clock. This week, the Mustangs face the Wildcats, who are holding opponents to 214.6 yards of total offense while their offense is rolling up 415.9 yards per game. The Mustangs visit Ellensburg for the third time in the history of the program and are seeking their first win against Central Washington, which pulled out a 10-7 victory over MSU last year at Memorial Stadium.

St. Mary’s is making just its third appearance at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Mustangs are spending part of this week performing community service, and the Mustangs will “Dig Pink” for cancer awareness during their home matches this weekend.

Midwestern State scored on the opening possession for the second consecutive week and returned two interceptions for touchdowns in a 40-21 win over Sul Ross at Memorial Stadium on Saturday night. Andrew Knebel, the redshirt freshman quarterback, connected on 16-of-25 passes for 190 yards in his second start of the season including a 28-yard strike to Jimmy Trilla in the first quarter, and he threw a 27-yard TD to Demonte Greene in the second quarter. Larry Donnell returned an interception 98 yards for a touchdown to give the Mustangs a 20-0 lead in the second quarter, then Karter Houchin returned another interception for a 29-yard score in the third quarter to extend the MSU advantage to 37-7. This week, Midwestern State celebrates homecoming but has to face the stingiest defense in the Lone Star Conference as Angelo State visits Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday night.

This week, MSU hosts Dallas Baptist in a midweek match that kicks off at Stang Park on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
