Midwestern State remained unbeaten with a 1-0 win over West Texas A&M at Stang Park on Saturday afternoon. The Buffaloes were down to 10 men through the first half, and Mere Escobar scored his 10th goal of the season. The senior from Austin extended his Lone Star Conference record goal streak to eight consecutive matches with a goal in the 31st minute. The Mustangs dominated possession the rest of the way. The Mustangs close out non-conference play at Oklahoma Christian and open the LSC schedule at Dallas Baptist this week. Meachum says both venues are tough for the Mustangs.

Midwestern State extended its winning streak to four matches by defeating Texas Woman’s 1-0 in a tense match at Stang Park last Wednesday night. On Saturday afternoon, the winning streak came to an end in excruciating fashion as Angelo State scored in the 90th minute of the match to win 1-0. Lexi Beck remains among the LSC leaders with five goals for the 4-2-2 Mustangs. MSU is hosting Eastern New Mexico on Wednesday night, and kickoff at Stang Park is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Mustangs are on the road Saturday to face St. Mary’s at 2 p.m.

Midwestern State is approaching the halfway mark of its season and is in the field for the prestigious Cowboy Jamboree at the Greiner Family Oklahoma State Cross Country Course, which is one of the nation’s oldest races. The Cowboy Jamboree was first held in 1937 and has grown to the point where it is now one of the largest non-championship races held in the country. MSU is making its seventh appearance in the event and won the college division's 5K race in 2010 and was runner-up in 2008. The Mustangs also competed in the college division in 2007 (20th), 2009 (4th), and 2013 (9th), while running eighth out of nine teams in the university division in 2015.
