Why does Director Krennic have a special shuttle, a cape on his uniform, or a military rank at all when he’s a science officer? The answer to all of those questions is that he has delusions of grandeur and a desire for more power, like most Imperial officers do. He thinks his status as director of the development of the Death Star makes him super special, and he wants everyone to know it. So he demanded a cape be attached to his uniform. He chose to use a delta-class shuttle instead of the standard lambda-class just so he would stand out more. And he negotiated a military rank he could use to lord over subordinates. All of it stems from his sense of self-importance, which is of course eventually stripped from him by Grand Moff Tarkin. And it’s pretty rich of him to claim the Death Star was his achievement when he couldn’t finish it without Galen Erso. #starwars #rogueone

What is a dyad in the Force? It was a bond in the Force between two beings that was so strong they were basically one. The two halves of a dyad were able to communicate mentally and physically across great distances. They could even pass objects between one another. The ability to use the Force to heal came naturally to them, and as illustrated by Ben Solo, one half of a dyad could give up their life energy to resurrect the other. The power of their bond could also heal others. Dyads were so rare that they were considered mysterious even to those most knowledgeable in the Force. The Sith’s Rule of Two was supposedly an attempt to manufacture a dyad. The truth is, we currently don’t know much about dyads, but it’s possible The Acolyte may have begun exploring the concept further in the characters Osha and Mae, two sisters that were originally one person that was split into two. #starwars

What happened to Watto after Attack of the Clones? We don’t know much in canon, except for the fact that he sold Obi-Wan Kenobi a humidifier for his hut when the Jedi-in-hiding moved to Tatooine, so I assume Watto stayed on the desert planet for the remainder of his life. If we jump over to Legends content, specifically the Star Wars Galaxies MMO, that seems to be exactly what he did. He kept a junk shop on Tatooine at least up until the Battle of Endor. According to the book Tatooine Ghost, Anakin’s childhood friend, Wald, eventually took over Watto’s shop and renamed it Wald’s Parts. But we know that’s not true in canon, because Wald and Kitster both left Tatooine after being liberated from slavery. #starwars

Kashyyyk was a jungle planet covered in massive wroshyr trees that was located in the Mid Rim of the galaxy. It was most well known as the homeworld of the noble Wookiee people. Unfortunately their physical strength made them the target of slavery several times throughout galactic history. They were a deeply spiritual people who believed the wroshyr trees were their planet’s true owners. They made their villages within the trees themselves, living in harmony with nature. The great Origin Tree was considered to be sacred, and Wookiees would climb it as a rite of passage. Their spirituality made them natural allies of the Jedi, and some of their ranks would join the Order themselves. Clone troopers were present on Kashyyyk during the rise of the Empire, which led to a hasty Imperial occupation of the world and enslavement of the Wookiee people. Saw Gerrera and the Jedi Padawan in hiding Cal Kestis worked alongside freedom fighters in a failed attempt to liberate the planet, but Kashyyyk wouldn’t be truly free again until after the Battle of Endor. While the New Republic struggled to maintain delicate control of the galaxy, Han Solo and Chewbacca defied orders to liberate the Wookiees on their own, forcing the New Republic to join the fight, leading to the surrender of Imperial forces.

Dagobah was a swamp planet located in the Outer Rim of the galaxy. It was at least somewhat known at the height of the Galactic Republic, because the Jedi of the High Republic had a record of the planet as one that was strong in the Force, thanks to its flourishing planet and animal life. It was also the site of a vergence in the Force, a cave that was strong in the dark side. At some point Qui-Gon Jinn had traveled to Dagobah during his journey to learn the secrets to life through the Cosmic Force. After his death, his spirit led Yoda there as well in the final days of the Clone Wars. Yoda also learned how to maintain his consciousness after death, and when the Empire rose from the ashes of the Republic, Yoda exiled himself on Dagobah to continue communing with the Force. He occasionally ventured into the dark side cave to confront and overcome his fears, weaknesses, and failures of the past. When Yoda was nearly nine centuries old he trained Luke Skywalker on Dagobah, sending the young man into the dark side cave as well. Even Supreme Leader Snoke took Kylo Ren to the cave as part of his training, and his student destroyed it during his vision. #starwars

Why didn’t Luke use his green lightsaber in his projection? Rian Johnson says it was to get a rise out of Kylo Ren, since he felt that weapon belonged to him. It was also a signal that something wasn’t quite right with Luke’s appearance on Crait. But I’m going to add my own reasoning to this. So much of the Force is about visualization and belief. Yoda says as much in The Empire Strikes Back. Luke is trying to manifest himself as the vision of an absolute Jedi hero. But the green lightsaber is a symbol of one of his most shameful moments, igniting it in his nephew’s hut. Even though using the green lightsaber would have made more sense, considering we didn’t just see it break in half, I suspect Luke may not have been able to make a convincing projection if he himself didn’t fully believe it. We also don’t know exactly how this works. He may not have chosen all the specific details of his projection’s appearance, it could just be happening based on his own thoughts and feelings. My point is, I think when Luke envisions the most heroic version of himself, it probably doesn’t include the green lightsaber that helped create Kylo Ren. #starwars
