STORYLINE:

An Israeli report released Tuesday said that Hamas used sexual violence as a “tactical weapon of war” in its Oct. 7, 2023 attacks, building on other investigations by international and Israeli rights groups and the United Nations into the militant group’s assault.

The report was presented to Israel's First Lady, Michal Herzog, during a meeting with released hostages and a team working on the report.

"I remember, they pointed guns at me. I remember hands, not related to me, touching me. I remember screaming and then darkness," Ilana Gritzewsky, a released hostage said during the meeting with Israel's first lady. Hamas attacked Gritzewsky's house in Kibbutz Nir Oz and kidnapped her along with her husband.

The report by the Dinah Project, a team of legal and gender experts, based its findings on survivor and witness testimonies, accounts from first responders, and forensic, visual and audio evidence.

It called for a shift in how conflict-related sexual violence is prosecuted, saying Hamas silenced its victims by killing them, robbing investigators of key evidence to hold the perpetrators to account.

STORYLINE:

Greek Authorities closed the Acropolis in Athens for several hours Tuesday due to high temperatures.

Officials from the Culture Ministry announced the closure between 1pm — 5pm local time (1000 GMT—1400 GMT).

Mandatory work breaks were imposed in several other regions, mostly on islands and parts of central Greece, where temperatures exceeded 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). The measures started Monday for outdoor workers.

Those who don't comply face a 2,000 euro ($2,350) fine per worker.

Authorities said the risk of wildfires, already at “very high” scale across the eastern mainland, is expected to increase during the week.

Chloé Roussel, a French tourist, told The Associated Press that this was her second time trying to visit the Acropolis.

On both occasions, she said she found the gates closed.

"It's very hot and we can't come in, so it is very sad. I'm very disappointed," she said.

10 Russian intelligence officers have been arrested allegedly for spying on the U-S.

Their mission, according to court papers, was "to search and develop ties in policymaking circles".

U-S officials intercepted a message from Russian intelligence headquarters meant for 2 of the suspects.

gather information and send it back home to Moscow.

And if the alleged spies are found guilty of breaking that federal law they could get up to 5 years in prison.

9 of the 10 defendants have also been charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering.

That charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.

In the wake of countrywide protests which turned violent in Kenya on Monday, traders were counting their losses following extensive damage to their businesses and buildings.

Police in Kenya clashed with demonstrators Monday during the latest anti-government protests, killing 10 people, according to the state-funded human rights commission.

Authorities blocked major roads leading into the capital, Nairobi, and most businesses closed amid the strictest measures yet to contain the unrest.

(2 Oct 2015) LITTLE MIX OPENS FOR ONE DIRECTION AT LONDON'S ROUNDHOUSE

British girl group Little Mix opened for headliner One Direction at the Apple Music Festival in London, Tuesday night (22 September 2015).

"The X Factor" winning girl band put on a show complete with dancers at the Roundhouse music venue.

Little Mix, which comprises of Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, performed hits from their upcoming album "Get Weird" including "Black Magic" and their new girl-power anthem "Grown".

"Get Weird" comes out on 6 November.
