  • Gov. Huckabee Sanders weighs in on Los Angeles immigration protests
    (10 Jun 2025)
    RESTRICTION SUMMARY:
    ++SOUNDBITES SEPARATED BY BLACK FRAMES++

    ASSOCIATED PRESS
    Washington – 10 June 2025
    1. Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, (R) Arkansas, walking toward reporters
2 . SOUNDBITE (English) Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, (R) Arkansas:
“Well, I think it's absurd that they've allowed what is going on in California to take place. The fact that they're choosing rioters and criminals over American law enforcement is absolutely absurd. They've picked crazy over normal. I'm a big fan of order over chaos, and I think the president is absolutely 100% right to step in. Frankly, he shouldn't have to, but because of their failures, he needs to. And I think it's abysmal what this governor and this mayor have allowed to happen, but I'm thankful we have a president who will actually step up and get things done and make sure people are safe in their states and their communities.”

    3. SOUNDBITE (English) Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, (R) Arkansas:
(REPORTER Why do you think the Democrats keep supporting illegal immigration?)
“It's a great question. You'd have to ask a Democrat. I certainly couldn't get in their mind and figure out why they're making a lot of the decisions that they are. You would think after the last several months, they would see that that's not only bad policy, but it's bad politics. It's not working. What President Trump is doing is working and has the vast majority of support from Americans. And frankly, they should be more supportive of the efforts that he has going on.”
    ++BLACK FRAMES++
    4. SOUNDBITE (English) Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, (R) Arkansas:
“Nobody’s against free speech, but we are against people throwing rocks through windows, attacking police officers, impeding the flow of traffic, stopping public transit from being able to move forward. That's not a peaceful protest. Anybody that's paying attention and says that is frankly just being dishonest. And so, there's, I think they'd be hard-pressed to actually see what's taking place on the ground and make that argument.”
    ++BLACK FRAMES++
    5. SOUNDBITE (English) Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, (R) Arkansas:
“If we needed help, I would be making the phone call myself to the president and asking for his assistance. But in Arkansas, we would never allow it to take place what they're letting go on in California. But if we needed to help, the president would be one of the first people I would call because he is somebody I know who cares deeply about making sure the American people are safe and secure first and foremost. And so, I have no doubt he would do what was needed to step in and protect people.”

    STORYLINE:
Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, (R) Arkansas, was at the White House on Tuesday to meet with officials and see how “Arkansas can continue to be supportive of the president.”

  • Robert Downey Jr. and co-stars discuss 'Iron Man 3' at press conference in London

    London, 17 April 2013
    15 mins approx
    1. Wide of "Iron Man 3" cast entering press conference
    2. SOUNDBITE (English) Shane Black, director - on if he was daunted about directing the 3rd movie:
"I think when you do anything with a 3 after it you have to just ask yourself 'how can we pretend that this was supposed to happen anyway,' you know, 'what's the story left to tell which makes it seem in retrospect like it was just waiting to get itself told. And I think finding the things that you like about Iron Man that haven't been mined yet and trying to include them in such a way that... You know, it's weird because it's not a trilogy, there's another movie called 'The Avengers,' that is in the middle, so it's almost like the trilogy and then us. It was weird. He saves the world, he perfects his technology and Iron Man has sort of emerged as this global superhero, so then we have this forth movie in the way. So, still looking for the thing that hasn't been explored yet, trying to find something different."
    3. SOUNDBITE (English) Robert Downey Jr. - on his character Tony Stark suffering from post traumatic stress in the movie:
"What I really liked about this, in a post 'Avengers' world we just asked questions, 'wouldn't he be a little bit freaked out?' And then that wound up being part of the theme."
    4. SOUNDBITE (English) Robert Downey Jr. - on his character Tony Stark suffering from post traumatic stress in the movie:
"The trauma thing to me was just again asking the question and getting away from this...we can't beat the spectacle of 'The Avengers' so lets ask 'wouldn't it actually be like this if we were back in Tony's world."
    5. SOUNDBITE (English) Sir Ben Kingsley - on being new to the franchise:
"The welcome that they give to a new boy is extraordinary. I think it is a measure of their confidence and their joy in what they do and what they have created and the franchise, but the welcome they gave to me was so assured, so generous and so confident, within seconds I felt like a team player. It was a really extraordinary experience for me."
    7. SOUNDBITE (English) Robert Downey Jr. - on what his fitness regime was for the movie:
"I am required to say that I was doing some Tracy Anderson training, which Gwyneth Paltrow is central to. I hate to say it Don (Cheadle) is actually in better shape than I am and he's more physically capable. But I'm not going to let it stay like that. When fitness magazines are asking me what I'm up to, that's what moves me. I want there to be no question that the dialogue between Don and I who is more fit is going to end with 'Iron Man 17' - old guys jacked up on growth hormone."
    8. SOUNDBITE (English) Gwyneth Paltrow - on her husband Chris Martin and kids seeing the film:
"Yes, we all saw it last night together with all of my kids friends and everybody loved it, including myself, I was really surprised."
Robert Downey Jr.: "Shocked? You're such a snob."

    Jerusalem, Mideast - 10 June 2025
    1. SOUNDBITE (English) Gideon Saar, Israel Foreign Minister:
"Greta, persona non-Greta, received food and good treatment. Israel acted in a peaceful manner. I want to be clear, this persona non-Greta will not be allowed to stay in Israel. Greta departed Israel for Sweden earlier today. Another person departed and two others will leave later today. Member of the European Parliament, Rima Hassan, has so far refused to sign the deportation documents, as have seven others. According to Israeli law, they should be brought before a judicial authority to authorize their deportation."

    4. SOUNDBITE (English) Gideon Saar, Israel Foreign Minister:
"Greta and her friends brought in a tiny amount of aid on their celebrity yacht. It did not help the people of Gaza. This was nothing but a ridiculous gimmick. A publicity stunt and nothing more. In any case, it's our intention to deliver to Gaza the tiny amount of aid on the yacht that they did not consume."

    STORYLINE:
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on Tuesday that activist Greta Thunberg and others were deported after attempting to bring aid to Gaza on what he called "their celebrity yacht".
"This was nothing but a ridiculous gimmick. A publicity stunt and nothing more. In any case, it our intention to deliver to Gaza the tiny amount of aid on the yacht that they did not consume," Saar said during a news conference with the foreign minister of Zambia Mulambo Haimbe in Jerusalem.
The Freedom Flotilla Coalition said three activists, including Thunberg, had been deported along with a journalist.
It said it had encouraged some of the group to do this so they could speak freely about their experiences.
Eight other passengers refused deportation and were being held in detention before their case is to be heard by Israeli authorities.
Adalah, a legal rights group in Israel representing the activists, said the eight were expected to be brought before a court later Tuesday.
“Their detention is unlawful, politically motivated and a direct violation of international law,” the coalition said in a statement.
It called for the remaining passengers to be released without deportation and said their lawyers would demand that they be allowed to complete their journey to Gaza.
Saar meanwhile said that the UK had told Israel it had decided to sanction two Israeli ministers and called the move "outrageous."
He said he had discussed the issue with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and they would meet next week to discuss next steps.
Far-right Israeli ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich condemned the sanctions the UK was set to launch against them Tuesday.
"We overcame Pharoah, we'll overcome Starmer's Wall. Boos to the white book!" Ben-Gvir, the national security minister, wrote on X.

    STORYLINE:
The French president's special envoy to Lebanon held talks in Beirut on Tuesday with Lebanese officials over the latest developments in the country and along the border with Israel.
A statement from Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam's office said the premier reviewed with Jean-Yves Le Drian "the current political and economic developments, the situation in the south in light of the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon."
The Israeli military struck several sites in Beirut’s southern suburbs that it said held underground facilities used by Hezbollah for drone production Thursday, on the eve of the Islamic Eid al-Adha holiday.
The strikes marked the fourth time Israel had struck on the outskirts of the capital since a US-brokered ceasefire agreement ended the latest war between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah in November.
Le Drian also met with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
According to a statement from Berri's office, they discussed the latest developments in Lebanon, particularly “Israel’s occupation of parts of Lebanese territory and its continued attacks and breaches of the ceasefire agreement.”
The U.S.-led committee that has been supervising the ceasefire that ended the 14-month Israel-Hezbollah war in November is made up of Lebanon, Israel, France, the U.S. and the U.N. peacekeeping forces in Lebanon known as UNIFIL.
Since the Israel-Hezbollah war ended, Israel has carried out nearly daily airstrikes on parts of Lebanon targeting Hezbollah operatives.
Israeli troops are also still stationed on five hilltops on Lebanese territory near the border.
Beirut’s southern suburbs were struck on several occasions since then.
Israeli strikes in Lebanon killed more than 4,000 people, including hundreds of civilians, while the Lebanese government said in April that Israeli strikes had killed another 190 people and wounded 485 since the ceasefire agreement.

Activist Greta Thunberg stressed that she and her fellow volunteers on a Gaza-bound aid ship were "well aware of the risks of this mission" after her arrival in Paris and deportation from Israel Tuesday.
“The aim was to get to Gaza and to be able to distribute the aid,” she said.
Thunberg said it appears she is headed back to her home country Sweden but hasn't had access to a phone in a few days.
The 22-year-old also said she's in need of "a shower" and "sleep."
Thunberg was one of 12 passengers on the Madleen, a ship carrying aid to Gaza that was meant to protest Israel's ongoing war there and shed light on the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territory, according to the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the group behind the journey.
Israeli naval forces seized the boat without incident early Monday about 200 kilometers (125 miles) off of Gaza’s coast, according to the coalition, which along with rights groups, said Israel's actions were a violation of international law. Israel rejects that charge because it says such ships intend to breach what it argues is a lawful naval blockade of Gaza.

Mourners grieved their lost loved ones in Khan Younis, Gaza Strip, after Israeli airstrikes on tents sheltering the displaced killed 19 people.
The strikes occurred late Monday early Tuesday, according to the Nasser Hospital, which received the casualties.
The strikes were the latest in the Israel-Hamas war which started when the Palestinian militant group attacked southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking another 251 hostage.
Israel’s military campaign has killed nearly 55,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
It says women and children make up most of the dead, but doesn’t say how many civilians or combatants were killed.
Israel says it has killed more than 20,000 militants, without providing evidence.
The war has destroyed vast areas of Gaza and displaced around 90% of its population, often multiple times.
