The cutting-edge Blackwell chips will be used in a 500 megawatt data center in Saudi Arabia, according to remarks at the Saudi-U.S. Investment Forum in Riyadh on Tuesday.
The California company said its first deployment will use its GB300 Blackwell chips, which are among Nvidia’s most advanced AI chips at the moment, and which were only officially announced earlier this year.

  • Kim Kardashian testifies about being bound and held at gunpoint during Paris robbery | AP Explains
    (13 May 2025)
    RESTRICTION SUMMARY:
    ASSOCIATED PRESS
    Paris - 13 May 2025
    1. Kim Kardashian arriving to testify at court
    2. SOUNDBITE (English) John Leicester, The Associated Press:
"So today was the moment when Kim Kardashian got to say what she described as my truth. It's her version of events of what happened that night in 2016 in the confines of her hotel. It was really quite traumatic at times, in which she described the terror that she'd felt as these two masked men burst in, they stomped up the stairs. She thought at one point that she was going to be raped. A man pulled her along the bed, and then after that she thought she would be killed. She said a silent prayer to herself, thinking of her family, her friends and her sister. And it was really a very long day for her: she spoke for nearly four hours with just a 40-minute break in between answering rounds and rounds of questions that went into the great detail of what happened that night."
    3. Kardashian waving and entering courthouse
    4. SOUNDBITE (English) John Leicester, The Associated Press:
"Well, Kim Kardashian explained that she's actually training herself now to become a lawyer, and she showed a little bit of composure that maybe we'll see in the courtroom in the years to come. Really, a very composed performance, not quite a command performance. There were times when the emotion overwhelmed her. One of the lawyers representing one of the accused read out a letter where he expressed his regret. There, she had a paper towel that she used to wipe her nose, seemingly wiping away tears. But otherwise she dealt with all of the questions with aplomb, I thought. And it lasted for such a long time. By the end of it, the fatigue was starting to show. She asked for a chair and she was able to sit down for the last questions."
    5. STILL: Artist sketch of Kim Kardashian testifying regarding a robbery of millions of dollars in jewels from her Paris hotel room in 2016,
    6. SOUNDBITE (English) John Leicester, The Associated Press:
"Well, Kim Kardashian was able to explain about how this night in 2016 changed her life. Paris had been a city that she'd loved. She walked around at three or four o'clock in the morning, going window shopping, sometimes stopping for hot chocolate. All of that's finished now. She talked about how she has a phobia of going outside, how she lives with four to six security guards at home."
    7. Kardashian leaving court after testifying
    8. SOUNDBITE (English) John Leicester, The Associated Press:
"Well, I think today we saw really several sides of Kim Kardashian. We saw the mother, she spoke repeatedly about how she'd feared for, she thought about her babies when she was there being tied up by these two masked men, saying: 'I have to make it home, I have to make it home.' She also showed the business mogul. She talked about her life, the contracts that she signed. They come with requirements in the amount of social media that she has to post. She said that social media has been a good business tool for herself and her family. The sums that she gave talk, too, of a woman who's had incredible success, the millions that the jewels were valued at. And then we also saw the person who is now working towards a law degree, she explained, and how the experience has reshaped her and reshaped maybe her thinking. She talked about how she visits prisons to go and meet people who have committed crimes. She also said that she also was representing victims."
    9. Kardashian going down courthouse steps, exiting through gate

    STORYLINE:
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva delivered statements to the press on Tuesday evening in Beijing, as both leaders affirmed their countries' close relationship.

President Lula, who is on a state visit to China, also described the repealing of unilateralism and protectionism as "an urgent and necessary task."
The Brazilian leader commented on Brazil and China's "common understandings" on the Ukraine War and the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, with Lula adding that an "an independent and viable State of Palestine" is necessary for peace.
Separately, Lula discussed the "concrete results" from the collaborative projects between Brazil and China, including cooperation between Central Banks that will enable "greater financial integration and facilitate investment."
"It is no exaggeration to say that, despite the more than fifteen thousand kilometers that separate us, we have never been so close." Lula said.

  • Jeffries says GOP tax cut bill is 'largest healthcare cut in American history '
    (13 May 2025)
    RESTRICTION SUMMARY:
    ASSOCIATED PRESS
    Washington – 13 May 2025
    1. Wide of House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries walking up to podium
    2. SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, U.S. House Minority Leader:
“House Republicans are trying to jam another GOP tax scam down the throats of the American people. Where the overwhelming majority of the benefits will go to the wealthiest 1% in the United States of America and they want to pay for it by sticking us with additional debt, trillions of dollars of additional debt, and by enacting the largest healthcare cut in American history along with the largest cut to food assistance in American history, literally taking food out of the mouths of children, veterans and seniors in this country. It's shameful. The American people do not support this extreme and toxic bill. And we're gonna hold every single House Republican who votes for it accountable.”
    3. Wide of press conference
    4. SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, U.S. House Minority Leader:
“I think that the so-called Homeland Security spokesperson is a joke. It's a joke, they know better than to go down that road. And it's been made loudly and abundantly clear to the Trump administration. We're not going to be intimidated. Tactics to try to force principled opposition from not standing up to their extremism. It hasn't happened during the entirety of this failed term. It didn't happen when Donald Trump temporarily was sitting high in the immediate aftermath of the election. Do you think it's gonna happen now, when he's the most unpopular president in American history after his first 100 days? Give me a break. No one's intimidated by this dude. No one. And so there are clear lines that they just dare not cross.”
    ++EDIT ENDS ON SOUNDBITE++
    STORYLINE:
The top House Democratic leader is blasting proposed tax breaks that’s expected to tally more than $5 trillion. Those tax breaks also include sizable reductions in Medicaid health care, food stamps for older Americans and green energy strategies to fight climate change which are all up for debate Tuesday as the House Republicans launch marathon public hearings on their “big, beautiful bill.”
“It's shameful,” House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries said. “The American people do not support this extreme and toxic bill. And we're gonna hold every single House Republican who votes for it accountable.”
When asked by reporters on the confrontation between members of Congress and the Trump administration at an immigration detention center in New Jersey, Jeffries notes “We're not going to be intimidated. Tactics to try to force principled opposition from not standing up to their extremism. It hasn't happened.”
The three members of Congress — Reps. LaMonica McIver, Bonnie Watson Coleman and Robert Menendez Jr. — have accused federal agents of escalating the situation by arresting the mayor.
The representatives have said they went to the facility to inspect it as a matter of congressional oversight.
Department of Homeland Security officials have said that lawmakers had not asked for a tour of Delaney Hall and that the agency would have facilitated one. Watson Coleman spokesperson Ned Cooper has said the three lawmakers went there unannounced because they planned to inspect it, not take a scheduled tour.

  • Judge in Los Angeles to decide whether the Menendez brothers should be freed
    (13 May 2025)
    RESTRICTION SUMMARY:
    ++SOUNDBITES SEPARATED BY BLACK FRAMES++
    ASSOCIATED PRESS
    Los Angeles - 13 May 2025
    1. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman surrounded by the press
    2. SOUNDBITE (English) Nathan Hochman, Los Angeles County District Attorney:
"We have said with respect to resentencing - our position is not 'no' or it's not 'never', it's 'not yet'. And the reason we said that is that the Menendez brothers have failed to come clean with the full extent of their criminal conduct, their coverup, their lies and their deceit over the past 30 years. As we've explained, the Menendez brothers persist for 30 years, as recently as 2024, in insisting that the reason that they killed their parents - when I say their parents, I mean their mother and their father - is not because of the sexual abuse. When they testified at trial, they were asked that question specifically 'was sexual abuse the reason that you killed your mother and their father?' The answer was no."
    ++BLACK FRAMES++
    3. SOUNDBITE (English) Nathan Hochman, Los Angeles County District Attorney:
"Just when you would think he would be on your best behavior as a court is going to to consider your resentencing motion, Lyle Menendez smuggles a cell phone into the facility, and why is that important? Well, a cell phone is not a monitored device by the prison. Every single communication that you have, if you want to speak on a phone or a tablet, there's actually a recording saying it's being monitored by the prison, but not if you bring in a burner cell phone, which is exactly what he did and he got caught. Same thing with Erik Menendez. Another, in January of 2025, he goes ahead and violates the prison's rules and brings in a cell phone as well. He also admits to engaging in the purchasing of drugs with other inmates. And years before, in helping inmates engage in tax fraud. Again, what the psychologist looking at this said, is that this shows that notwithstanding those rehabilitative efforts, their risk level is no longer low. It is moderate. There's a moderate risk of violence because if the Menendez's are released they're going to head and not be in a highly structured setting like a prison. And if they can't follow the rules in prison, then the confidence level of these psychologists have dropped on whether or not they will now pose a risk of violence in society."
    4. Hochman during the press briefing
    5. SOUNDBITE (English) Nathan Hochman, Los Angeles County District Attorney:
"It's not my concern. It's the expert psychologists' concern in prison that have risen their risk level up to that moderate level. We've also added to it a whole range of lies they have told for the last 30 years, and they've never come clean with, to again show they have not fully accepted responsibility for all their criminal conduct and in our minds not fully then rehabilitated and do constitute the risk for violence as well."
    6. Anamaria Baralt getting out of car
    7. UPSOUND (English) reporter: "How do you feel about taking the stand?"
    8. SOUNDBITE (English) Anamaria Baralt, Menendez brothers' cousin:

    "We're hopeful."
    11. UPSOUND (Spanish) reporter: inaudible
    12. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Anamaria Baralt, Menendez brothers' cousin:
"Yes, it's a very important day"

  • House Democrats join activists in opposition to Trump's Medicaid cuts
    (13 May 2025)
    RESTRICTION SUMMARY:
    ASSOCIATED PRESS
    Washington - 13 May 2025
    1. Wide of Rep. Steven Horsford speaking
    2. SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Steven Horsford, (D) Nevada:
"It's cruel. It's cruel. It's cruel to cut nutrition assistance from needy children and from seniors and from families. It's cruel to strangle Social Security and Medicare. It's cruel to take away health care from families in order to give tax breaks to billionaires. It's cruel. Donald Trump, this is not what you were elected for. I don't work for you, and I sure as hell don't work for Elon Musk. I don' work for billionaires, I work for the people in Nevada who sent me here to do a job. And that job is to make sure that their voices are heard."
    3. Close of a sign reading (English) "Public Money for Public Good"
    4. SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Debbie Dingell, (D) Michigan:
"We need to make sure we're lifting the human stories. We are going to go into this committee and fight like hell and try to not let them win with what they want to do. And to strip the bullshit from what they say they are going to do and hiding from it. You cannot cut $880 billion from Medicaid and not have someone die. People will die."
    5. Close of a sign reading (English) "Medicaid Cuts Kill"
    6. SOUNDBITE (English) Randi Weingarten, President of the American Federation of Teachers:
"So the bottom line is this, a budget tells you priorities. And the priorities here, regardless of what the Republicans say, is to basically undermine working people. People who work hard. And give tax cuts to the rich. And that is why all of us are fighting it. People should pay their fair share of taxes in a progressive way. Those who have the most should be given the most. Those who have least, in America,
we should be helping them. This does the opposite."
    7. Activist Josie Badger moving to the podium
    8. SOUNDBITE (English) Josie Badger, activist, Family Values and Work:
"We need to be thinking about the individuals, whether they are too disabled to work, or like me, an individual who is both very disabled and am able to own businesses, to be able to be a part of society. And regardless of what some secretaries may believe, disability does not mean we cannot work or have families or date or love."
    9. Wide of press conference room, end of presser
    10. SOUNDBITE (English) Josie Badger, activist, Family Values and Work:
"For those of us with severe, significant disabilities like myself, I rely on literally life support, a ventilator, a wheelchair, 24-hour care. This is our lifeline. There are no others. No private insurance will pay to allow me to stay alive. We are here speaking for those others that cannot be here today. And I don't know about you, but I want to live in that America where all people are created equal, where all people have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. So please, join us in talking about people, not just politics."
    11. Attendees and speakers chanting (English) "Fund families, not billionaires"
    STORYLINE:
House Democrats and activists joined in opposition to Donald Trump's big priority bill, tallying at least $4.9 trillion in costs so far, partly paid for with cuts to Medicaid, food stamps and green energy programs used by millions of Americans.
"It's cruel," said Rep. Steven Horsford, (D) Nevada, during a press conference on Tuesday. "It's cruel to strangle Social Security and Medicare. It's cruel to take away health care from families in order to give tax breaks to billionaires. It's cruel."
"You cannot cut $880 billion from Medicaid and not have someone die. People will die," she warned.

    3. SOUNDBITE (Haitian Creole) Damus Nelson, teacher:
“I saw on the internet about the first American cardinal who became Pope; his name is Robert Francis Prevost. I heard there are discussions linking him to his roots. His older brother said that he is of Haitian origin, and the Dominicans also claim him as part of their heritage. I cannot decide; we must maintain an independent position.”

    5. SOUNDBITE (Haitian Creole) Mike Delavadre, student:
“This is something circulating on social networks; I can’t say anything about it, but I believe that, given his role in the world, the new pope should have a significant role, especially for Haiti.”

    ++IMAGES OVER SOUNDBITE++
    6. SOUNDBITE (Haitian Creole) Josue Derosier, resident of Port-au-Prince and Catholic:
“A Pope of Haitian origin, who has a Haitian family, I think we will be in his prayers, just as Pope Francis always remembered us during our difficult times."
    7. Various of people in a park
    STORYLINE:
The new pope’s French-sounding last name, Prevost, intrigued historians who began digging in the archives and discovered the pope had deep roots in Louisiana.
Pope Leo XIV, who has not spoken openly about his roots, may have an ancestral connection to Haiti.
His grandfather, Joseph Norval Martinez, may have been born there, though historical records are conflicting.
Josue Derosier, a resident of Port-au-Prince and a Catholic, said he while he had no information on the Pope’s possible Haitian roots, he hoped the new pontiff would have Haiti in his prayer "just as Pope Francis always remembered us during our difficult times."
So far, Haitians are only hearing rumors of the Pope’s Creole ancestry via social media, but they hope he will pay special attention to the plight of the Haitian people, who for the last years have been the victims of widespread gang violence, with thousands of homeless and millions suffering from food insecurity.

    2. Pan of buildings, audio: sirens
    STORYLINE:
A missile fired from Yemen set off sirens in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, the Israeli military said Tuesday.
The military said it intercepted the missile.
The announcement came minutes after President Donald Trump ended his speech in Riyadh, during which he criticized the Houthi militant group in Yemen.
The Houthis have targeted Israel throughout the war in solidarity with Palestinians, raising their profile at home and internationally as the last member of Iran’s self-described “Axis of Resistance” capable of launching regular attacks on Israel.
The U.S. military under President Donald Trump has launched an intensified campaign of daily airstrikes targeting the Houthis since March 15.

It's dedicated to poverty, service and evangelization.
Leo has affirmed he is a “son of St. Augustine” ever since his May 8 election.
