Davis: "Every year, that's kind of a puzzle piece to put together and whether or not we change it up for season two or not. But the song was something we also had a lot of discussions about because we didn't want to replicate 'Outlander.' We did want it to stand on its own. We talked a lot about Clanadonia, that band, that we've used in 'Outlander' a little bit with the drum beat and having a little more of that vibe as opposed to, you know, the song. The Skye Boat Song is romantic and -- we wanted the blend of two. We wanted the romantic part of it but also the drumbeat energy of it to make it feel a little different and same, we've kind of stuck to a similar plan on both shows in terms of showing scenes from the show and and it's fun to have the fans guess when those scenes are gonna show up or where those scenes are taken from."

STORYLINE:

Authorities said they were closely watching hotspots after France’s largest wildfire in decades was contained in the south of the country.

Remi Recio, a senior regional official who is the deputy prefect for the southern city of Narbonne, said on Friday that over 1,000 firefighters were deployed "aided by drones dotted with thermic cameras and GPS" in order to detect potential places for re-ignition.

Over three days, the fire spread across more than 160 square kilometres (62 square miles) in the Aude wine region and claimed one life, forcing hundreds of residents to flee their homes.

In hot and dry weather, the blaze quickly spread with a perimeter reaching 90 kilometres and local authorities said they need to remain vigilant throughout the weekend as temperatures are expected to rise above 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) during another heat wave.

One person died at home, and at least 21 others were injured, including 16 firefighters, according to local authorities.

Some 1,300 homes were still without electricity on Friday morning after infrastructure was extensively damaged, the Aude prefecture said.

Residents have been warned not to return home without authorization, as many roads remain blocked and dangerous.

Those forced to flee have been housed in emergency shelters across 17 municipalities.

An investigation is underway to determine what sparked the fire.

The fire was the largest recorded since France’s national fire database was created in 2006.

Families of Israeli hostages said they are not surprised by the government's decision to retake Gaza City, but stressed that it's a bad development.

"Israeli government decided on a path that we hostage families feel puts in danger, the living hostages, as well as the deceased hostages that never will be found," Ruby Chen, father of US-Israeli hostage Itay said.

"It's unfortunate, but we, the families, feel that we are collateral damage," he added.

On Friday, Israel announced its plans, an escalation in its 22-month war with Hamas.

The move drew a swift dismissal from the militant group, renewed international calls to end the conflict, and heightened fears for hostages still held in Gaza.

Some Israelis however argued it is necessary to continue pursuing Hamas.

Susan Makin, a Tel Aviv resident, believes the government should press on with the fight against Hamas.“672 days, it’s enough already. Let’s focus on Hamas,” Makin said.

Israel has repeatedly bombarded Gaza City and carried out numerous raids there, only to return to neighborhoods again and again as militants regrouped.

Today, it is one of the few areas in Gaza that hasn’t been turned into an Israeli buffer zone or placed under evacuation orders.

A major ground operation there could displace tens of thousands of people and further disrupt efforts to deliver food to the hunger-stricken territory.

It’s unclear how many people reside in the city, which was Gaza’s largest before the war.

Residents of a small French village spared from country's biggest wildfire in decades said the flames came close but local vegetation acted like a firebreaker, keeping them safe.

Fance’s biggest wildfire in years was spreading quickly Wednesday in a Mediterranean region near Spain after leaving one person dead and several injured, authorities said.

The fire burned an area larger than Paris, and the military was called in to help.

Coustouge is a small village standing at the south end of the Corbieres.

Surrounded by hills covered in black with charred trees and bushes and the occasional vineyard that acted as a fire breaker, the entire village was saved from being damaged by the fire.

Paulette, a retired archaeologist and her husband, an also retired forest technician, said that at one point they had been completely encircled by the flames.

"We couldn’t walk further than that bridge over there," she recounted.

"We participated in the tasks of taking water from the deposit we have that collects rainwater. We opened the taps and took turns, before we started taking water from the house, because there was only one fire truck.”

More than half of the 100 residents of the hamlet sought refuge in the nearby town of Tuchan, where they are sheltered at a public sports facility.

The village continues to have all infrastructure cut off.

President Donald Trump's sweeping new tariffs have taken effect against dozens of countries, including South Africa.

Trump began imposing higher import taxes on numerous countries Thursday just as the economic fallout of his months long tariff threats has begun to cause visible damage to the U.S. economy.

South Africa’s leader said he spoke with Trump as some African nations hope they could still negotiate tariff rates that threaten to increase unemployment in countries already struggling with high rates of joblessness.

President Cyril Ramaphosa’s office said he and Trump spoke Wednesday ahead of steep 30% tariffs coming into effect on some South African exports to the U.S. on Friday.

The statement said the two leaders “undertook to continue with further engagements.” South Africa has said it believes it can still negotiate with the U.S., even after Trump has been especially critical of the country.

The Trump administration said it has stopped aid and assistance to Africa’s most diverse economy over what it calls its anti-white and anti-American policies.

South African neighbors Botswana and Lesotho have also said they still hope to negotiate better tariff rates.

Lesotho, a tiny mountainous country, was threatened with a huge 50% tariff rate before it was reduced to 15%. It says that is still high enough to threaten thousands of jobs and businesses in its crucial clothing sector, which makes and exports well-known brands like Levi’s and others to the American market.
