Let's celebrate Hims & Her (HIMS) shareholders. Cathie Wood came in clutch to stop the sell-off which put Hims back near its ATH. I originally talked about Hims & Hers in my Best Stocks To Buy in 2021 episode; however, after this news, I wanted to make a dedicated video on the topic. Hims, Inc. is a telemedicine company that operates Hims and Hers, which sell men's and women's personal care products. Hims, Inc. was founded in 2017 with the launch of Hims, and Hers was launched in 2018. In January 2019, Hims became the second-fastest startup to become a so-called "unicorn" after Bird. Hims and hers offer a modern approach to health and wellness. Their mission is to eliminate stigmas and make it easier for people to access care and treatment for the conditions that impact their daily lives. That starts with creating an open and honest culture of care that is accessible for everyone, no matter who you are or where you live. Since launching in November 2017, they’ve raised over $200MM in funding and are one of the fastest-growing direct-to-consumer brands in history.
ARK seeks to gain a deeper understanding of the convergence, market potential, and long-term impact of disruptive innovation by researching a global universe that spans sectors, industries, and markets. Today, we are witnessing an acceleration in new technological breakthroughs. To enlighten investors on the impact of these breakthroughs and the opportunities they should create, we began publishing Big Ideas in 2017. This annual research report seeks to highlight the latest developments in innovation and offers some of our most provocative research conclusions for the coming year. I originally intended to break down Ark Invest’s 2021 Big Ideas myself, but after listening to this interview of Cathie Wood on ETF trends, I thought it would be best for you to hear it from her. This is unlike my other episodes but I thought this presentation was informative and I wanted to share it for you guys to see. She briefly goes over the 15 top innovative fields to watch in 2021. The team at Ark did a great job in their detailed analysis, which you can find here: https://ark-invest.com/big-ideas-2021/ Credit to Etf Trends for the interview: https://www.etftrends.com/webcasts/big-ideas-2021-technological-breakthroughs-investors-shouldnt-miss/
Wall Street Bets has taken the financial world by storm, by amassing a storm of short squeezes against notable hedge fund managers. With a community of over 2 million people, Wall Street Bets has pumped the price for certain stocks, most notably Gamestop (GME) to parabolic heights. This is a win for the individual investor and a clear sign that they shouldn't be underestimated. This has been amazing to watch and it will definitely go down in financial history. How will it end? Who really knows.. but all I know is that I would hate to be short these stocks. Sorry (not sorry) Andrew Left.
MP Materials' (MP) mission is to restore the full rare earth supply chain to the United States of America. MP Materials owns and operates Mountain Pass, the only integrated rare earth mining and processing site in North America. Today, China dominates the rare earth industry, producing over 80% of global supply. Having a single country as a potential point-of-failure in the industrial supply chain for trillions of dollars in GDP is untenable, and MP Materials provides a straightforward solution. Mountain Pass is blessed with one of the world’s highest quality deposits of rare earths, which allows MP Materials to be a global low-cost producer while adhering to our rigorous environmental standards and fulfilling our commitments to employees and our community.
The pandemic has drastically changed the world as we know it and have both accelerated and decimated whole industries. It's important to both understand and prepare for the permanent changes that have been made. Some industries have benefitted greatly from these changes, making them attractive investment opportunities moving further into 2021. In this episode, I give an update on my portfolio, as well as discuss the high-growth industries that have benefitted from this pandemic as well as a Biden administration.

The potential for genomic stocks could be massive, according to Wood, who foresees a combination of artificial intelligence and gene editing allowing scientists to anticipate and cure diseases like sickle cell disease and diabetes."The biggest upside surprises are going to come from the genomic space, and that's because the convergence of DNA sequencing, artificial intelligence, and gene therapies are going to cure disease," Wood said. "We actually think the next 'FANG' [stocks] are in the genomic age." Precision BioSciences is a clinical-stage biotechnology company dedicated to improving life (DTIL) with its novel and proprietary ARCUS® genome editing platform. ARCUS is a highly specific, versatile platform designed with therapeutic safety, delivery, and control in mind. Using ARCUS, Precision is developing allogeneic CAR T and in vivo gene correction therapies for cancer and infectious diseases. I’ve been increasingly interested in learning more about the genomic industry. After Cathie Wood’s bullish call and increased investment in this industry, I figured it's time for me to do some research myself. In this video I break down Precision Biosciences (DTIL) and why I think it could be a good pick in this space.
2020 has seen an acceleration of many digital trends, e-commerce being the poster child of this phenomenon. With stores closed, consumers have had no choice but to order online. In fact, according to data from IBM, 2020 has accelerated the shift to e-commerce by five years. Not only have people been changing where they buy their goods, but also how they pay for those goods. The latest trend sweeping the e-commerce industry is known as "buy now, pay later," which is exactly what it sounds like. Unlike credit cards, shoppers using buy now, pay later can create payment plans for specific items, and in many cases, they do not have to worry about interest expense. This is a huge win for consumers by providing yet another way to pay for goods and services. In this video, I break down Affirm (AFRM), Afterpay (AFTPY), and Katapult (FSRV), and my pick for the best investment in the buy now, pay later space.
Mental illness is on a drastic rise, and it's being fueled by the current pandemic. Youth suicides and mental health disorders are increasingly becoming a national health emergency that needs to be addressed and fixed. Although there aren’t many current solutions, therapy has become one of the leading answers to combat this disease. Talkspace is an online text therapy platform that offers access to therapists who cover a broad range of mental health services. Talkspace has quickly become one of the leading platforms offering a comprehensive suite of virtual therapy solutions. I truly believe mental illness is one of the biggest health challenges that we will face in the next few decades. Due to this, I want to look into some of the leading companies tackling this problem. I believe Talkspace is well-positioned to become the market leader in this industry and to really make a real difference to those who need it.
