  • George A. Romero's Trilogy of the Dead | Missing Frames #25
"When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth."

'tis the season for horror films, and few are better than George A. Romero's legendary Trilogy of the Dead: Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead.

Shawn and his wife Sarah sit down for Sarah's first ever viewing of the films. Do they still hold up? Tune in to find out!

  • Blade Runner (1982) | Missing Frames #24
Ridley Scott's 1982 masterpiece Blade Runner is one of the most stunning and influential films ever made. While co-hosts Shawn and John have seen the film in one form or another, Shawn has never seen the theatrical version and John has never seen the Final Cut. In this episode, they join forces to discuss their reactions and which edition they prefer.

And not only did they watch the original film, dear listeners. They went out and saw its much-anticipated (or maybe not so much, judging from the box office numbers?) sequel Blade Runner 2049. Is it worthy of the original's legacy? And why is no one going to see it?? Hopefully the answers to these questions won't be lost like tears in rain. Tune in and enjoy.

  • The Princess Bride (1987) | Missing Frames #23
Happy 30th anniversary to The Princess Bride!

Directed by Rob Reiner and starring Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin and Christopher Guest, The Princess Bride has been embraced by audiences worldwide as a classic fairy tale/romance/comedy. (It really is all of the above)

Despite having seen bits and pieces of the film, Shawn has never seen it in its entirety. Now, just in time for their own 'mawwage' anniversary, Shawn and his wife Sarah sit down to watch and discuss the film.

  • Before Sunset (2004) | Missing Frames #22
Six months ago, Shawn and John sat down for John's first viewing of Before Sunrise. In this episode of Missing Frames, the duo reunites for John's first viewing of its sequel Before Sunset. Filmed nine years after Before Sunrise, Before Sunset reunites writer/director Richard Linklater with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, and is considered by many (including Shawn) to be the best film of their Before Trilogy. But the real question is did it live up to John's expectations? Tune in to find out!

  • Leon the Professional (1994) | Missing Frames #21
We ran into some audio issues during the 'Before' segment of the episode. These were amended in time for the 'After' segment. Please bear with us for the first 13 minutes or so. Things clear up after the break. Thanks for your understanding and keep being awesome!

Lee Hutchison of Filibuster fame makes his first Missing Frames appearance to watch and discuss a film neither he nor Shawn have seen before: Leon the Professional. By happy accident, Shawn ended up watching the theatrical cut while Lee watched the extended version. Join them as they discuss the pros and cons of each version, the film's controversial subject matter and whether or not composer Eric Serra ripped off his own soundtrack when he scored GoldenEye the following year.

  • True Romance (1993) | Missing Frames #20
How has Shawn gone so long without seeing True Romance? The film, written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott, might not have made much of a splash when it was first released in 1993, but in the years since it's developed a reputation as a modern classic.

Now the time has finally come. Join Shawn and his wife Sarah as they navigate Shawn's first viewing and determine once and for all how True this Romance really is.

  • Following (1998) | Missing Frames #19
Christopher Nolan's debut feature Following was shot on weekends over the course of a year with a budget of roughly $6,000. No biggie. Despite its low budget, it is an effective and unsettling thriller, including many of the staples that would become synonymous with Nolan's style such as confusing, out-of-sequence narratives and characters named 'Cobb.'

Paige Hamilton and Mark Spurlock make their first appearance on Missings Frames for their first ever viewing of the film and attempt to help Shawn wrap his head around its labyrinthian plot.

  • Planet of the Apes Franchise | Missing Frames #18
To celebrate this past weekend's release of War for the Planet of the Apes, the Missing Frames crew takes a look at the entire Planet of the Apes franchise, starting with the 1968 classic and navigating through the truly insane sequels all the way to the brilliant 'Caesar Trilogy' reboot. Co-host Sarah reacts to seeing the original franchise for the very first time and she and Shawn offer up their reviews of the newest film, discussing whether or not it's the best of the series.

  • Top Gun (1986) | Missing Frames #17
Happy almost 4th of July, everyone! And what's more patriotic than flying some fighter jets, playing some shirtless volleyball and taking the highway to the Danger Zone? In 1986, Top Gun gave us all these things and more and went on to become the highest grossing film of the year. It launched Tom Cruise's career to a whole new level of stardom and, despite mixed reviews, is considered something of a classic.

But is Top Gun deserving of this fame, or are people getting the quality of the film confused with the quality of its soundtrack? Shawn and Sarah sit down for their first ever Top Gun viewing and discuss whether or not it lives up to its reputatio.

  • Batman the Movie (1966) | Missing Frames #16
What's so wrong with Batman being funny?

In celebration of Adam West's life and the amazing legacy he's left behind, the Missing Frames crew watched the 1966 classic Batman the Movie. In the wake of Frank Miller, Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan, Batman has developed a reputation for being dark and brooding, and rightfully so. But an unfortunate side effect of this Dark Knight appreciation was fans throwing the Adam West/Burt Ward TV series under the bus for being too goofy. No one seems to appreciate the intentional comic genius of the series, or how far ahead of its time it was.

In this episode, our co-hosts discuss the vastly underrated brilliance of the Adam West/Burt Ward series and answer the most important question: Can a deadly serious Batman and a lighthearted, fun iteration of the character co-exist in harmony?

This episode is dedicated to our Bright Knight Adam West.
