Marshall Applewhite and his friend Bonnie Nettles were two nomads camping in the National parks of the United States, they eventually came up with the idea that evil space aliens—called Luciferians—falsely represented themselves to Earthlings as "God" and conspired to keep humans from developing. What' crazier than their ideas is that they found a group of people willing to follow them. It all lead to one of them becoming one of the most well known cults of the 1990's and a tragic end result.

This week we talk about Sam Patch. Sam is classed by many as the first daredevil. His act wasn't much more than a man jumping off a high platform but he became a sensation in mid-1800s America. You can guess how this ends, right?

This week we talk about Rolf Harris. Rolf looked at a flat square piece of hardboard and decided it was an instrument. Rolf managed to take this humble piece of hardware and develop a big following in Australia and Britain. This is particularly impressive considering the questionable music and lyrics he was producing. Rolf continued with music and painting for a number of years before he was exposed for some unsavoury and illegal acts.

This week we talk about the life of Rael, a Frenchman who was visited by an alien in the late 1970s. From that point he steadily built a religion, Raelism, based on the visit and further visions of the aliens. The religion developed quite a following around the world with Rael writing multiple books and appearing regularly on television over the last 30 years.

This week we talk about the Boston Molasses Disaster of 1919. The disaster resulted in 21 deaths and numerous injuries. 300 people assisted in the clean up which took weeks and resulted in the Boston River turning brown for 6 months.
