In what can only be described as a disappointing series, the Twins win just one of three games against the Royals in Kansas City and continue to bat poorly while pitching surprisingly well. David and Dan discuss the strong turn by the starting rotation and also the ongoing offensive woes of Carlos Correa, Miguel Sano and Ryan Jeffers. David gets particularly worked up talking about third-base coach Tommy Watkins, while Dan sees great humor in starter Chris Paddack pleading with the position players to score him some runs. They also look around the league at Miguel Cabrera's impending 3,000th hit, and then the namedropping begins, from Dave Winfield to Bernie Mac. The Twins split a four-game series against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway. The boys praise the efforts of the Twins starting rotation and criticize the quiet bats of the offense in games 2 and 3 of the series. David is missing Taylor Rogers and Dan is confused why Rocco doesn't want to play Celestino in center field. The boys discuss Correa's comments that he believes the team's offensive woes will soon come to a close. David is convinced there's more to Byron Buxton's injury situation than the Twins are leading on, and Dan wants to know if Trevor Larnach will prove himself to be a major league player this year. Hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers for the first time in eight years, it doesn't go well for the Twins, who muster just two runs and six hits in the series. But it isn't a series without highlights -- for the Dodgers, anyway, who get seven perfect innings from the great Clayton Kershaw before the future Hall of Fame pitcher sits down for the final two frames. David and Dan discuss the logic of that choice and then question a whole lot about how the Twins approached the series, from the rain-stunted Game 1 to a Game 2 that was seemingly thrown away by manager Rocco Baldelli before it even began. Alex Kirilloff is hurt, Luis Arraez has played like he is also injured, and as Dan tries to conjure memories of the great Twins starters, Kyle Gibson is inexplicably near the front. But hey, David apparently is ready to crown Chris Archer as the next great Twins reclamation project.

While it turns out Byron Buxton can't do everything -- he cannot pitch the 9th inning, for example -- the Twins centerfielder blasted three home runs in a four-game split with the Mariners to open the 2022 season. Minnesota relied heavily on the longball, and David enjoyed the calm, business-like demeanor Gary Sanchez brought to the team (even if he came from the Yankees). Dan sticks up for his guy Miguel Sano despite a hitless series, and David points out the positives from a bullpen that pitched well in its season debut. They wonder about Rocco Baldelli's management of Luis Arraez and Gilberto Celestino and whether the Twins are just going to keep bringing up starting pitchers to avoid giving any of them a second start anytime soon.

Opening Day is only a day or two away depending on the weather, and David and Dan are joined by Andrew "Hoges" Hoganson to give their predictions for the Minnesota Twins 2022 season. Hoges thinks there are too many "ifs" to have any optimism for the Twins starting rotation, while Dan has nothing but optimism for Miguel Sano. Dan's love for Byron Buxton is still as strong as his hate for Max Kepler and David proves himself to be the homer of the group with his season record prediction. Hoges believes the defensive upgrades will play a role in improving the pitching staff's ERA, and both he and Dan can't wait to gush about Joe Mauer while David is traveling later this season. The Twins  seemingly made their last major acquisition this week, signing Chris Archer, who hasn't been great in about seven years. So, it looks as if the overhaul for the 2022 season is finished -- but will the Twins have enough pitching? David and Dan discuss the unique Archer deal as well as the bench spots and bullpen arms as they stand now. Dan waxes about Joe Smith's important historical presence on the roster, David offers a plan to replace Miguel Sano if needed, and both of them revisit the significant extra-inning rule change that David's brother proposed last episode. And don't get Dan going on the significance of the placement of second base.

What a week it was for the Minnesota Twins, who traded away Mitch Garver, temporarily gained two Rangers players in return and then promptly shipped one of them up to New York -- along with the lovable Ben Rortvedt and the divisive but talented and heavily compensated Josh Donaldson -- for a pair of Yankees infielders. Then came the bombshell signing of former Astros shortstop Carlos Correa, and all of that has David and Dan wondering how Twins fans will react to rooting for two players who once wore Pinstripes and another player who knew a thing or two about banging on trash cans (not to mention how the Twins can possibly still have a giant hole in their starting rotation). They unpack all the moves and then bicker about the league's decision to go back to the extra-inning runner on second, and they marvel at the magic penny that is Jake Cave, who is seemingly a lock to make the Opening Day roster.

Minnesota Twins baseball has returned for the 2022 season. After several months the MLB lockout has come to a close and David and Dan are back in studio to give their thoughts on the new CBA rules changes. The boys discuss the transactional rules changes as well as the changes that impact play on the field including the NL DH, the return to traditional nine-inning double headers and extra-inning rules, and the new postseason format. Dan doesn't want MLB umpires to have their pride hurt with the implementation of the electronic strike zone in 2023, and David isn't convinced that a pitch clock will produce the intended results. The end has finally come to the disappointing 2021 Twins season. Dan thinks David should have a more positive attitude as the Twins did end the season on a high note while David thinks his curmudgeonly perspective is warranted given the poor season. Buxton finishes the season with some strong points to make regarding a possible contract extension, and the boys are convinced Louis Arraez would have finished with a battering average above .300 if he had been healthy. David still has hope in Max Kepler while Dan is almost ready to move on if they Twins had someone ready to replace him. The Twins say goodbye to the fans at Target Field for the season, and just one road series remains in this disappointing 2021 campaign. David and his family took in one last game of the year in person, and it featured a Jorge Polanco home run he figures he will never forget. Byron Buxton earns plenty of praise from both Dan and David, and Dan asks seriously (or maybe not seriously?) whether the Twins miss former Double-A prospect and Tigers regular Akil Baddoo. They question Rocco's handling of Alex Colome (this series) and Nick Gordon (basically until this series) and wonder whether any starter will last past the fifth inning next season after Joe Ryan gets a rather unexpected standing ovation upon giving up six earned runs in Game 3.  Thanks for listening.
