The boys commiserate the lackluster performance of the Twins bullpen and Dan relishes his Puckett's Pick victory due to the stellar offensive performance of Miguel Sano. David is on board the Rooker at DH train and Dan is convinced a t-shirt is the cause for the steroid era in baseball. The Twins drop three of four to the Angels, and fans don't even get to see Shohei Ohtani pitch (though he did hit -- and well). David finds lots to criticize Rocco Baldelli about, especially his management of Game 4, but at least there were some exciting moments in a series that featured three different one-run games. Dan and David wonder about the future of this team regarding Byron Buxton, Jose Berrios and the two Triple-A starters the Twins got in the Nelson Cruz trade. Jake Cave finds himself back on the roster, batting fifth; the Twins squander some good starting pitching performances; and Hansel Robles is nowhere to be found. After time away for the All-Star break David and Dan are back at it discussing the Twins terrible performance against the Detroit Tigers. After sweeping the Tigers prior to the All-Star break the Tigers returned the favor sweeping the Twins in the three game series. The boys commiserate the lackluster performance of the Twins offense and Dan is upset at MLB for making Nelson Cruz get interviewed during his All-Star game at bat. The guys struggle to find the beast of the series and David wants to know if he were in Byron Buxton's position if he would take the extension offer the Twins have put on the table. The Twins head into the All-Star Break with a four-game sweep of the Tigers, and while David and Dan are only joking about how the Twins might just have time to get back into contention, they agree that this sure was a fun series to watch. They revisit the many memorable moments of the series, from Polanco's timely hitting to Ben Rortvedt's unexpected home run. David continues to look smart for believing in Max Kepler, while Dan muses about whether Trevor Larnach is the second coming of a Twins great left-handed hitter -- even after Larnach's 12-strikeout series that helped him set a new record-low in Puckett's Picks.

The Twins and Royals duked it out for fourth place in the AL Central, and at the season midpoint Minnesota unexpectedly sits in last after losing two of three in Kansas City. David and Dan rehash the ups -- Kenta Maeda's start, Trevor Larnach's bat -- and the downs, namely the poor starting pitching performances in Game 1 and 2. David sees just two paths forward for this franchise with no middle ground.
