This time we get further into what's actually going on in Railey's mind and realize, at least consciously, she's troubled by corporate capitalism. At the end of the session Dr. Lazlo makes a phone call which impacts the outcome of Railey's romantic life.

Porkbelly, Chapter 18 (Production). Roman — a late 20s Englishman, cast as the love interest of Railey, the 22-year-old star of the "Railey DuBouis Reality TV Show," which is produced by his older sister, Magdalena — meets with Magdalena the morning after his and Railey's first fight. Roman and Magdalena discuss the show as they travel underground to a reciprocal city and into station headquarters which are slick and hypermodern. A couple weeks pass and we watch Railey's life in time lapse as she doesn't know she is the subject of a TV show. Later, we witness an intimate scene between Railey and Roman in which she complains of feeling depressed and Roman advertises his Android phone.

Please note: "Porkbelly" is not "The Truman Show" incarnate, though it may seem that way for a bit here. There are many twists and turns ahead.

Railey is intrigued by Johnson's vagabond lifestyle and has compassion for his rough life. Roman sees him as a threat and a parasite. Railey hears a noise downstairs; at her urging, they pursue it. This episode of Möbius Strip concludes with an homage to beat poetry.

Porkbelly, Chapter 14 (The Drop). Roman, a late 20s Englishman, meets a new love interest named Jenny, his same age, in a park on a November night in Chicago. Roman leaves to meet his sister, Magdalena, for dinner. It is then revealed that Roman has been cast in a reality tv show for which Magdalena is the executive producer. The fact that Railey DuBois, the novel's 22-year-old heroine, and Roman's previously established love interest, is the subject of the show is let drop at the chapter's close.

This chapter marks the end of the exposition of the novel and the entrance of a dramatic new plot point. However, the novel will continue to twist and turn. It is not "The Truman Show" incarnate, though it may seem that way for a bit here.
