We've all thought it at some point, whether because we're bored or when we're about to make a big ammo order. "I need to start reloading." Thankfully, we're joined by two people on this episode who can tell you how and where you should start.
Jon from Iron Sharpens Iron hops back on the show, as well as someone Pat was recently introduced to at a shooting event, Cyril. Jon and Cyril are a fair representation of the types of people who reload. Jon being on the more "I need more bulk training ammo" side, and Cyril being on the "Let's see what I can do with the knowledge and free time I have."
Cyril and Jon go over their journeys and reasons on why they decided to jump into the world of reloading. From there, the two talk about the steps and procedures that need to be followed in order to make your own ammo. From cleaning, to load data, to presses and powders, the two guests give you a solid knowledge dump to make your journey into reloading a lot easier and leave you with some confidence in undertaking the reloading journey.

Whether you've had your PAL for 20 days or 20 years, chances are you've heard about this episode's guest and have thought about taking one of his courses. Earl Green hops on the MCS to talk about his experiences when it comes to providing Canadians firearms trainings, as well as his observations of what the future may hold for Canadian shooters.
The conversation starts with the customer demographic that take courses at Phase Line Green, being primarily made up of law enforcement and civilians. Earl brings up some of the roadblocks that have been instituted through legislation over the years that have made it increasingly difficult for companies like his own to provide quality training to its customers. Regardless of these difficulties, Earl has observed that the morale and willingness to learn from the students is always positive, which adds to his drive to continue providing training.
From there, the conversation shifts to the differences between the shooting community in regards to west coast and east coast based shooters. Both Earl and Pat have noticed that shooters based on the west coast of the country seem to have a hunger for any and all training courses that come there way, where as east coast shooters seem to be putting up their own personal barriers that prevent themselves from attending courses that are available to them.
Earl then brings up some of his experiences with younger generations that he has interacted with, specifically in secondary education institutions, and how what is being reported in the media is not what it actually is like in real life when it comes to priorities of the younger generation. Earl and Pat then converse about their own realizations of how the media in Canada is painting a false narrative in life that is easy to debunk by simply talking to your fellow Canadian.
The two then shift the spotlight back onto the training aspect of shooting. Earl talks about how he has shifted some of his training curriculum to "diagnostic shooting". Earl talks about some of the challenges he first faced when it came to providing his students with his first generation of diagnostic shooting and how he has since evolved his curriculum to where he can do it in a weekend course.

Want to learn how to unlock the infinite SKS glitch? This is the episode to listen to. Aric, also known as "White Phos and Wild Flowers" on Instagram, hops on the show to tell you how to do it.
Aric and Pat start off the show by talking about how Aric had an idea to show Canadian shooters that anyone can attend a Brutality match in Canada with a rifle platform and setup that costs less than $1000 all in. The conversation then evolves into Aric's positive opinion on how Tom from Canadian Multi Gun designs his stages at Brutality events and how he feels that it is a great way to show a shooter what they need to work on when it comes to their shooting abilities. The two then talk about how experienced shooters should curate the experience when it comes to introducing people into firearms for the first time, and how they both feel that community is starting to get the message.
From there, Aric breaks down "Project SKS". Going from tip to butt on how he set up his SKS, why he did what he did, and where he got some of the parts off. Aric discusses how the shooting fundamentals weighed heavily in his mind when it came to the setup and how the project ended up. He then goes into how the rifle ended up doing for him at Summer Brutality 2024 and how the rifle, paired with training, ended up being a good rifle to compete with.
Speaking of training, Aric then brings up the question of training companies and Pat's experience with some his training. The two talk about their experiences both in the distant past and in recent history when it comes to training companies in Canada. Unfortunately there isn't many in Canada at the moment, but the two talk about some of the companies in Canada who are providing training to Canadian shooters who want to learn and improve.
The conversation then shifts to the Canadian shooting community itself. Specifically the "Modern" Canadian shooter, and their thoughts on how the community is doing. Both share their insight and their pride on how the community has been handling itself over the past 4 years. Sharing the tales of people like "The Main Character" and previous guest "Door Gunner Photography" as examples of the good that is coming out of this new generation of shooters that Canada is producing.

We've been saving this guest for a bit. And Episode 69 (nice) seemed like a special enough episode number to bring him on. For our first ever in-person recorded episode, Taylor and pat bring on their close friend, Jimmy. Jimmy has a lot of experience being behind a gun. With a resume including two tours in Afghanistan, maritime anti-piracy operations in the east, and being on the protection detail of house hold names, Jimmy has a lot of real world experience and knowledge.
In this episode, we talk about how training in Canada has evolved over the past decade, whether that be in the civilian world or for those that wear a uniform. Jimmy has been a student and an instructor in both the private/civilian based courses as well as Canadian Forces courses. He discusses how training completely changed for the Army once Canada was no longer in Afghanistan, and what the training points shifted to.
Jimmy then also brings up Trojan Securities and his experiences of taking their courses. This brings up the question if time and knowledge has forced the fundamentals of shooting to shift in a more positive way for people pulling the trigger.
The conversation shifts from the changes of fundamentals to the shifts in mindset in the community. The three discuss the change in mindset that they've noticed in the community from being focused on the shooting aspect to a broader spectrum of being an asset for yourself and those around you. Topics covered in the Stoneface Defense episode come up again, like having appropriate supplies accessible to you when you're travelling and basic medical skills that can save someone's life.

Strandhogg hops back on the MCS to talk to Taylor and Pat. But instead of talking about his experiences in Ukraine, Strandhogg discusses his training company, GPPA. Strandhogg created GPPA back in 2021 after hearing about a law enforcement story in his neck of the woods were the lack of training could have had a very bad outcome. He then took it upon himself to provide modern training to professionals so that situations like the one he heard of cannot happen again.
Strandhogg then talks about the legal journey that he has been through by creating GPPA. From getting his prohibited license and spending thousands of dollars on firearms and equipment so he could run courses, to having it stripped away a few months later. To then spending thousands more on legal fees to fight the decision in court. Strandhogg reveals how the difference between the french and english writings of the prohibited licensing ended up playing a huge factor in the outcome.
From there, Pat and Taylor talk about the capabilities that GPPA brings to the professional training market. From having real world experience to help instruct, to being the only North American training company that has a portable and on demand kill house that they recently built. The three talk about how having this capability is essentially a pioneering move in the industry and that not even top tier training companies in the US have thought to do yet.

It's been a minute since we've done a Tinfoil Talk. But we're back with one. In this episode we're joined by repeat guest Hoser Gun Guy, as well as fellow B.C. shooter, Matt.
The three start the episode starts off by talking about updates in their lives and the relationship between body and mind when it comes to health. Discussions about personal experiences and how emotions can take a physical toll on the body lead the three to the conclusion that a healthy mind is key to a healthy body
From there the subject shifts to the recent political news in Canada, and how the three have noticed a positive shift in the way it feels to be a gun owner lately in Canada. The three discuss their feelings on how they feel an almost a hopeful feeling in what gun ownership can be soon for Canadian LGOs."
The next big topic is Taccom. Hoser spent some time at Taccom 2024 and shares his thoughts and experiences on his time at the convention and some of the rifles that peaked his interest at the event. This leads the three to talk about the updated Canadian AR180s that are coming out and what they hope to see from them. They also discuss their views on past experiences with Canadian manufactured AR 180s and talk about what they hope to see in the future from Canadian gun makers.
The Canadian Firearms Safety Program is next up on the docket for conversations. Pat, Hoser, and Matt talk about what they've noticed when it comes to taking the CFSP and the changes they would like to see. All three agree that the program needs an overhaul on what is taught, with an emphasis on firearm and range culture, as well as a live fire practicum to allow new shooters to shoot for the first time under supervision that can provide helpful and constructive criticism.
This leads to the three talking about how they would like to see gun culture shift into something different than it is now. Hoser talks about his views on how he would like to see it change to a role similar to something resembling a word that gets a bad meaning, a "militia" like role. Hoser goes into depths on this view and brings up stories of countries out of Europe that the success stories that have come from that continent.
It wouldn't be a Tinfoil Talk if someone's internet didn't crap out. And unfortunately Hoser is the victim of this curse. Matt and Pat wind down the episode by getting nostalgic about their Summer Brutality 2024 experience

While there has been some promising news out of Taccom on what the Canadian shooter can expect out of the AR180s that most of use shoot these days, it's been no secret that a lot of end users have been left with bad tastes in their mouth to this date. Mainly due to the gas system that is being utilized by the manufacturers. Enter Connor, the man behind "Wadi Precision". Connor knew that this was an issue that needed to be corrected and decided to undertake the task of creating a gas piston that wouldn't break and leave Canadian AR180 users with a carbine that work and can be depended on.
The episode starts off with Connor and Pat talking about the news out of Taccom this year with the announcement of both the WK180 Gen 3 and the R18 Mk3. Connor and Pat both give their opinions on the updated platforms and what they expect to see out of them. From their the conversation turns to Connor talking about some products that he will be releasing for the Type 81 platform. A railed dust cover that will allow end users to mount optics in a more ergonomic place on their rifle. This leads to both of them singing the praises of the Type 81 platform and how it is turning out to be their favourite platform.
From their, the two talk about the main purpose of the episode, which is the aftermarket piston he is designing for the WK180 and the MCR platforms. Connor talks about the trail and error process that he has undergone to make a product that he believes will satisfy the end user. He also goes in depth on the process he has created to select beta testers to provide feedback and the criteria that he has set to get as much accurate information from the testers. Connor then talks about the plan to turn his business from a project in his basement to a full time job that he'll be running on his property. The biggest point of pride being that everything will be done in house, while hopefully being able to employee friends.
Next up, the two talk about their experiences when it comes to buying night vision and how Connor has already utilized it for hunting wild boars in Alberta. The two share stories about wild boars in Canada, with Connor sharing his first experience with the pest.

July had a lot of shooting events, Including the MDT Mid Summer Madness centrefire and Go Big Tactical rimfire matches hosted at the Nicola Valley Fish and Game Club. On this episode, Pat is joined by returning guest Adam Bach (Kilo.4.N9ne), as well as Brad Olsen (HongKongJimm) and Mat Heard (Casper_Gunfighter) who all attended the events.
The episode features their experiences at the events, as well as things they learned when it comes to kit, their platforms, and what a shooter should mentally dial in before going to a precision rifle match. The four talk about some of the kit that they think will help enable a shooter to be more efficient when the clock is ticking, as well as how to set up your rifle and kit.
One of the main points that the four talk about is the importance of going out ahead of time and practicing the ability to set up unorthodox shooting positions that will be comfy and stable for the shooter. This point is harped on many times do the fact that no amount of bench or prone shooting can get a competitor ready for this, and that it's better to learn ahead of time then on the fly when on the clock.
The four then talk about the rimfire match and the challenges that rimfire shooters experience that someone might not experience when shooting centrefire. Cranking up mils on your scope, the lightest breeze coming off a hill, and the size of some of the targets all present unique challenges to the shooter that simply cannot be mirrored with your average centrefire match.
The conversation then shifts to how a shooter can enter the precision rifle scene on a budget and without breaking the bank. Considering platforms that a shooter can grow into and adapt as they advance, options when it comes to optics, and choosing a platform that has aftermarket accessories that will allow them to adapt the rifle to what they need.

Summer Brutality 2024 is now in the rear view mirror for us. But we thought what better way to celebrate its success other than telling the stories and lessons learned from the event.
We're joined by returning guests Thomas Simpson, Dan of Offspecwar, and Broc Lindhal. The guests are able to share their unique perspectives of the event. Thomas is the man who runs and organizes the event from start to finish, Dan and his Offspecwar cadre were running the "Light Infantry" division, and Broc competed on both days of the event.
If you weren't able to make the event, then listen to this episode so you can vicariously live it through us!
