In this episode, I want to remind everyone that SAHM life truly isn’t glamorous. It is frustrating, disgusting, overwhelming, and challenging every single day. You’re saying “yes” to so much more than the “fun” aspects of being home with your children. The internet has a way of wrapping the modern-day role of homemaking into a pretty little package that looks quiet, cozy, neat, calm, and beautiful. Are there moments of that? Absolutely! But a full-time mother's role is definitely NOT neat, calm, or quiet. Let’s have a chat about the importance of understanding what we are saying yes to and why you chose this role. Warning: Many poop stories that will surely give you a belly laugh in this one, my friend.

In this episode, I wanted to dive into the topic of scrolling. Yes, scrolling. It sure feels like this topic is discussed a lot, doesn’t it? Maybe that’s because it’s a topic where so many women struggle! We use it as an escape while justifying how we stay connected as isolated SAHMs.
It’s time to ask yourself if you’re scrolling to connect truly, or if you’re scrolling to compare. Compare what you have or don’t have. Compare what you believe or don’t believe. Compare what you feel or don’t feel. Compare how you look, how your house looks, and how your family looks in the eyes of others. Social media can be a wonderful tool to reach people all across the world. But, it’s time to ask yourself the “why” behind the thumb scroll.

This episode is all about shifting our mindset and negative thoughts in order to be more fulfilled. We all have the never-ending “to-do list,” whether it’s sitting on your counter, posted on the fridge, or built up in your mind. Valuing your self-worth based on your productivity will absolutely lead to low self-esteem, de-value your role, and lead to mom burn-out at an astronomical rate. Trust me; I’ve been there.
One of the fastest ways to find joy and fulfillment in your day is by shifting your focus from what you didn’t accomplish that day to what you DID accomplish. Our accomplishments often don’t align with our to-do lists as SAHMs, but that doesn’t mean our efforts and intentions are any less valuable or worthy of pride and positive vibes. Are you basing your joy and measuring whether or not you had a good day by how many things you were able to check off “the list” that day? Trust me girl; I’ve been there. In fact, I share a story that happened recently around this very topic. Grab a cozy beverage and join me! Let’s grow together!

In this episode, I want to address a specific question from a sweet mama listener who is going through the same challenges all of us have or will be going through…life with multiple littles. The heaviness of life as a SAHM with two littles and the challenges this brings is something I know all too well. As many of you know, this was my rock-bottom moment. This was when I was forced to make little changes that had a big impact. What do we do to get through this tumultuous time? What steps can we take to get off this island of desolate isolation? How do we thrive in this time when we feel like we’re merely surviving? I hope this episode helps another mama get back on her feet, understand her worth, and know her feelings are heard.

May is NF Awareness Month, and in doing my part to “Shine a Light on NF,” I want to bring you a conversation I shared on the podcast this time last year with my sweet friend Christa Castanon. Christa and I both have children with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 or NF1. In this episode, we chat about:
This episode is not just for mamas with children of NF. It’s an episode for ALL mamas because even if you don’t have a special-needs child, chances are good you know someone who does. As I am re-releasing this episode, Christa and her daughter Cataleya (Cat) are going through a very challenging, scary, and unknown time. Cat’s midbrain tumor has grown, and she recently went through a brain biopsy procedure. Their family needs all of our support and consideration at this time. I only ask that you help by educating yourself for a few moments on this rare disease.

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of trying to do and be all the things all the time. Does anyone else constantly feel pulled to be doing more? We need to stop trying new things for the sake of adding it to our own identity. Let curiosity and pleasure be your guide, not envy and higher expectations. In this episode, I talk about what it means to invest in yourself, the problems that arise when we don’t as SAHMs, and the four ways I stay on track to investing in my OWN life. Grab a cozy beverage, and start your week off with a little mindset conversation and an opportunity for self-reflection.

Ladies, I have the honor and the privilege of introducing you to an absolutely phenomenal woman. Julie Bogart is incredibly well-known for her “common sense parenting and education advice” in the homeschool community. I started my journey in getting to know Julie when I read her book, “Brave Learner” a few years ago. I was ecstatic to learn about Julie's most recent book, “Raising Critical Thinkers” and couldn’t wait to have her on the show. The important concepts and research presented are beneficial for not only home educators but ALL parents.
Julie and I talk about what it means to be a critical thinker, how to apply this in everyday situations, and the importance of this application now more than ever. Julie and I don’t shy away from the tough conversations or real talk such as religion and personal household values. Grab a cozy beverage (tea is Julie’s trademark beverage) and join us in a beautiful and insightful conversation.
