Since I feel like I missed the entire second half of spooky season, due to unforseen family health emergencies? I'm extending the "Listener Scares Episodes!" I've uploaded this one today, so that you at least get an episode to listen to this week and I'll be back to our regular murder and such next Wednesday! But, I still have a few more that I haven't had time to record, but I will be sure to get them recorded as soon as possible. I may even get crazy with it and decide to extend spooky season AND "Listener Scares" episodes until December! Who knows?! We'll see!

In part 2 of the Betty Gore and Candy Montgomery case I will detail HOW Candy got caught, and even how she got acquitted completely from all charges! I'll tell you about all of the evidence that Candy left behind at the crime scene and all of the things that happened during the trial. Even though, at the end, I'm sure you're going to be asking yourselves "how did she get away with that?" just like I am. Enjoy! Also, as a PSA this is actually NOT normally how you would get away with murder! So, don't follow in Candy's footsteps! She just got lucky, is all.

In honor of Spooky season, I've gathered a few scary stories, both real and fictional and with permission from their respective authors, I've been asked to share them, here with you! In this first episode of Listener Scares, I'll take you through the dramatic retelling of a wife and mother, named Stephanie being forced to watch as her husband, and her in laws are murdered right in front of her eyes. But, will Stephanie be able to save them? Will she even be able to save herself?

Candy Montgomery was your typical suburban housewife in the 70's, but by the late 70's she had grown bored with her marriage and her life. Candy decided that an affair with, Alan Gore who was a man from church, could fix that. Candy and Alan meticulously planned every detail of their affair, and they both agreed that there would be no feelings involved. Just sex, with no strings attached (yeah.. because that always ends, so well. Insert eye roll here) But, when Alan and Candy broke off their affair for good? Alan's wife, Betty was found axed to death in her own home over 40 times while Alan was away on a business trip. As the investigation progressed? All signs pointed to Candy.

Jessica Chambers was found burned alive on Dec 6th 2014 telling first responders and emergency personal that "Eric/Derek did this to me" or "It was Eric/Derek." This week I'm going to take you through the time line of events of Jessica's last known movements, whereabouts and run through the large pool of suspects that have to be ruled out, talked to, and we may even find a viable suspect. One man will undergo two separate trials for the murder of Jessica Chambers, but will she ever get justice? Another question that the people in Courtland, Mississippi have is; do the police even have the right person on trial? This is the second and finale part of the Jessica Chambers case. I will be sure to post any updates and/or new findings as this case continues to progress.

Jessica Chambers was beautiful with her entire life ahead of her, but when the Courtland, Mississippi Fire Dept received a call about a car being on fire off of a rural back road, Jessica would be found walking towards first responders, with her entire body covered in ash, and soot. Someone had poured gasoline or some kind of flammable accelerant down Jessica's throat and nose, and all over her body, and burned her alive. Jessica would succumb to her burn injuries just hours after she was found, but not before telling multiple first responders and emergency personal that "Eric did this to me." or "Eric set me on fire." This would lead police down many different avenues of theories, and more questions than answers.

Orrin and Orson West were taken from their birth parent's after what seemed to be an accidental injury to one of the boys legs.  They were both placed into the foster care system, and they were both able to be placed within the same home. The home of Trezel and Jacqueline West, who already had 4 other kids living in their home, two of which were adopted and two of which were their own biological children. When the West family moved from their small apartment in Bakersfield, CA to a home that the couple purchased in California City, CA things seemed to be going fine until December 21st 2020 when a 911 call was placed from the Wests' home reporting that Orrin and Orson West were both missing from their own fenced in back yard. As search teams scoured the area and volunteers came out by the dozens; things just didn't seem to be adding up to the FBI, the California City Police, and the Bakersfield Police. Once all of those alarming puzzle pieces were finally able to be put together it started to paint a terrifying picture of what could have happened to 3 and 4 year old Orrin and Orson West at the hands of their adoptive parents.

Christina Harris (Christy) was a loving mother, to her two young daughters; her youngest daughter was only 4 months old when a neighbor found Christy dead. A seemingly healthy and happy 36 year old mom, Christy's death was ruled as an accidental over-dose due to heroin. But, Christy's parent's knew that she wasn't a drug user and they knew their daughter would never jeopardize her 4 month old daughter; since Christy was still breastfeeding. Even after years and years with no answers, the truth and justice would eventually surface. And, Christy's parents would end up holding the key that everyone didn't know they needed.
