  • MOMocrats MOMochat: The Dairy Cliff
The media is all over the story of the fiscal cliff, and MOMocrats Cynematic and Donna Schwartz Mills are, too. But what about the Dairy Cliff, a result of Congress' failure to pass a new Farm Bill? Julie Pippert explains why even urbanites should be concerned about this -- and why a $6 gallon of milk may be in your future. Also: how the fiscal cliff will affect non-profits and  yesterday's shameful rejection of the UN Treaty on Disabilities.

  • MOMocrats MOMochat: Give A Care
Congress finished its Thanksgiving break and is now busy quacking about the so-called fiscal cliff. Will anything be done before the lame duck session ends? Also: co-host Julie Pippert's Lessons Lost in History: Radiated, Lithiated, and all Coked Up -- Food and Labeling... and the MOMocrats welcome Burke Stansbury and Son Ah Yun from WeGiveACare.org about the plight of America's 50 million unpaid caregivers.

  • MOMocrats MOMochat: Give a Care Thanksgiving Show
Obamacare is safe for now -- but healthcare reform does not address the needs of Americans of all ages who require long term care -- and the family members who wind up handling it. It's a rewarding labor of love -- but it's also exhausting and stressful. And the majority (66%) of family caregivers are women, many of whom are providing 40 hours of care per week.

  • MOMocrats MOMochat: The Petraeus Affair
The President had very little chance to bask in his electoral victory before CIA Director David Petraeus dropped his resignation bombshell. The right wing spin machine immediately pounced on the fishy timing of it. We think there's something amiss, too -- but not for the same reasons as the people at Fox News. Cynematic, Karoli, Julie Pippert and Donna Schwartz Mills also talk about the fiscal cliff, the next Congress and the crybaby petitions for secession.

  • #kidsnotcuts: What's Ahead for Education in the Lame Duck?
Join hosts Donna Schwartz Mills (MOMocrats) and Cynthia Liu (K-12 News Network) as we talk with experts on education and try to switch gears from presidential politics to the lame duck session of Congress. What's the "fiscal showdown," and what will it mean for federal education dollars beginning January, 2013? Who'll feel the proposed cuts and what can we do to prevent them?
Our three experts are National Education Association VP Lily Eskelsen, the NEA's Director of Governmental Relations Mary Kusler, and a third guest, instructional paraprofessional Mike Hoffman, who works with special ed children in Delaware schools.
Join our Twitter Party on November 15, 10 am PT / 1 pm ET and follow the hashtag #kidsnotcuts. We'll be featuring Lily Eskelsen (@NEAToday) during the Twitter party, so you can ask follow up questions and otherwise participate in the conversation and take action.

  • MOMocrats MOMochat: The Morning After
We did it. President Obama will have four more years -- with a slightly larger majority in the Senate. That does not mean a second term will be any easier: GOP Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell made that clear last night, and the House remains firmly in Republican control.
But we'll deal with that next week. This morning, the MOMocrats want to relish the very big wins we made: from the Presidency, to the defeat of Tea Party candidates who tried to redefine rape, to the triumph of Senator-Elect Elizabeth Warren... and more.
