Eight years after Donald Trump came down that escalator, our news media STILL haven't figured out how to keep in control of the narrative. Last Saturday, the twice-impeached disgraced ex-President announced on Truth Social he expected to be arrested on Tuesday and the entire US news media went into indictment watch... which continues to this day, even though as of this recording, there have been no indictments yet. However, New York DA Alvin Bragg is receiving death threats. And Trump continues to troll the nation by scheduling a rally this weekend in Waco on the 30th anniversary of the Branch Davidian standoff.

No one was expecting much from President Biden's second State of the Union address - which is why the success of the speech took so many political pundits by surprise. The continual underestimation of the President's political skills is probably his secret weapon, note MOMocrats Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills in this week's podcast. It's only January 20, but you'd be forgiven for thinking we've fast-forwarded a couple of weeks to Groundhog Day, because the Republicans are in charge of the House and we're having a fight about the debt ceiling. Again.

This time, the RWNJ wing of the House thinks it's got leverage to cut Social Security and Medicare by taking the world economy hostage. President Biden says the nation's obligation to pay the bills (most of which were incurred during the Trump administration) is not a negotiation.

The MOMocrats knew that the 118th Congress would be chaotic. The long slog to elect a leader was no surprise. But the Bingo cards of Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills did not include "Joe Biden had a classified document of his own" or the appointment of a special counsel.

And it's only January 13.
