The leadership crisis in Congress continues, as Jim Jordan's ill-fated Speaker candidacy mercifully comes to an end - just as MOMocrat Karoli predicted last week. She and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss the ongoing drama in the House of Representatives. They also talk about this week's developments in the Israel-Hamas war and President Biden's leadership, as well as "The Former Guy's" latest legal problems: including his violation of the gag order in New York and the bombshell plea deals made this week in Fani Willis' Georgia RICO prosecution. The House of Representatives is still without a Speaker, after last week's historic ouster of Kevin McCarthy. And it's unclear if the Republican caucus will ever find enough votes to elect a replacement. As of the podcast recording, the new GOP candidate is Rep. Jim Jordan of OH. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills predict he will NEVER be elected Speaker.
Aside from the continuing turmoil of US politics, the MOMocrats talked about the new war in the Middle East: the horrors of the Hamas attack that ignited this latest chapter, and the plight of the people affected. MOMocrats MOMochat is part of the Demcast family of podcasts.

MOMocrats Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss the shutdown that was averted at the last minute and the continuing leadership crisis in the House of Representatives. Some in Congress are calling the current funding crisis the “Seinfeld Shutdown” because the House Republicans are forcing it to happen over nothing. Kind of like this week’s bogus impeachment hearing. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about Kevin McCarthy’s crazy kids in the House, as well as the former president’s very bad week in court - and the passing of California Senator Dianne Feinstein. Fulton County DA Fani Willis doesn’t suffer fools gladly, as she demonstrated in a scathing letter this week to Jim Jordan, who is trying to get intel on her 2020 election RICO case. “Willis is a badass,” agree MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills in this week’s podcast.
Others on the badass female list include Vice President Kamala Harris, who made a show at ASEAN this week (in a tan suit, no less)… and Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi, who announced that she will run for re-election in 2024.
The MOMocrats spent some time this week talking about the Georgia special grand jury report released this morning and the 21 additional persons who were recommended (but not indicted) in Willis’ RICO case… Peter Navarro’s conviction… and the question of invoking the 14th amendment to keep Trump off the 2024 ballot.

This Labor Day weekend caps the end of a remarkable summer for the nation's labor movement: In an economy that's favorable to workers, there have been over 230 strikes this year - and UPS and airline pilots scored big gains for their members. New economic figures today show that while the economy has slowed to pre-pandemic levels (187,000 new jobs added last month), salaries are exceeding inflation (which continues to come down from last year's highs).
MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about the many successes of Bidenomics. They also try to keep track of the very many legal problems dogging "the former guy," who is still the front-runner for the 2024 GOP nomination (despite his 91 felony charges)... and the rest of the GOP field. In Fulton County, the nineteen defendants in Fani Willis' RICO case found out this week that there are indeed consequences for trying to steal an election. And that includes the twice-impeached, four-times indicted former president who showed up for his close-up Thursday night. MOMocrats Aliza Worthington and Donna Schwartz Mills talked about the long-awaited mug shot and the strategies of the various co-defendants. They also touched upon the first GOP debate, the fate of Yevgeny Prigozhin, and the 60th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington.

Inflation is down, GDP is up, and apparently it pays to staff an Administration with competent, experienced people. That's the consensus of MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills, who were happy to talk about something good for change. They also talked about Donald Trump's new superseding charge in his summer of indictments, the possibility of another government shutdown, and what a p***y Speaker Kevin McCarthy is.

Climate change and a deadly heat dome are not the only reason the streets of Hollywood are hot this weekend: For the first time in over 60 years, the Screen Actors Guild and Writers Guild of America are on strike together. "And this IS politics," MOMocrat Karoli says. Aliza Worthington and Donna Schwartz Mills join her to talk labor unrest, the shameless bigotry of certain Congress critters, and the probability of a government shutdown this year. t seems like the Supreme Court saves all its most outrageous decisions for the final day of their session - and the two that dropped today were doozies. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss SCOTUS and Dark Brandon's response. Part of the Demcast family of podcasts.
