Minutes before recording this week's podcast, the verdict came down in E. Jean Carroll's defamation suit against Donald Trump - to the tune of $83.3 million. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about the verdict. Other topics this week are the performative exercise of the New Hampshire primary (including President Biden's write-in victory and Nikki Haley's determination to continue), the incredible growth of the US economy, Civil War cosplay on the Texas border, and today's decision from The Hague. This week's best political moment was courtesy of Hunter Biden (with a little help from the House Oversight Committee Democrats).
MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills also talk about Donald Trump's courtroom tantrum and his attorneys' assertion that presidents have "absolute immunity," as well as what a waste of time it is to cover the GOP caucuses and primaries this year.

The first MOMocrats podcast of 2024 coincided with President Biden's barn buster of a speech commemorating January 6 and kicking off his election campaign. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills discussed the President's fiery words and the fight ahead. They also talked about the Supreme Court's decision to hear the appeal of the Colorado 14th Amendment decision to keep Trump off the state ballot, games House Republicans play, and more.

Christmas came early in the form of a Colorado state Supreme Court decision keeping Donald Trump off the state's 2024 ballot for violating the 14th Amendment. This decision has been stayed until January 4 pending an expected appeal to the US Supreme Court. In the meantime, SCOTUS dealt Trump a win by denying Jack Smith's request hopscotch over the DC Court of Appeals on his claim of presidential immunity for the actions he took to overthrow the 2020 election.

Justice was delivered today to Miss Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Shane Moss, in the form of a $148 million judgement in their defamation case against Rudy Giuliani. And MOMocrats Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills point out that it couldn't happen to a more deserving guy: In this week's wide-ranging discussion about US politics, it was noted that all roads lead to Rudy - from the "but her emails" scandal of 2016, to the plot to manufacture dirt on Joe Biden in Ukraine, to the failed effort to overturn the 2020 election. Giuliani was involved in all of it. MOMocrats MOMochat is part of the Demcast family of podcasts.

Last week, we bid good-bye to George Santos (but not before he launched a second career as a shill on Cameo). This week, we learned that we would also be saying farewell to former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who is leaving the House at the end of the month. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about the Republicans' shrinking congressional margins and increasing outrageous demands - just as the mainstream media seems to have awakened to the very real dangers of another Trump presidency. We lost several historic figures over the last week: Rosalynn Carter, Sandra Day O'Connor, Henry Kissinger and member of Congress George Santos. The MOMocrats also talk about Trump's court setbacks, the DeSantis-Newsom "debate"... and the anguish of following Israel's war with Hamas. Part of the Demcast family of podcasts.

In a world that’s fraught with turmoil, with a fractious Congressional Republican Party, MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills are thankful: That Donald Trump is not in the White House right now and that Biden and Harris are. That the government will not be shut down for the holidays. That George Santos likely will. They discuss this and more in this week’s program, part of the Demcast family of podcasts.

The week began with a spate of dark news for Democrats, beginning with rabid headlines touting yet another poll indicating the Donald Trump has a real chance of getting back into the White House in 2025.
Then came Tuesday's elections, when (once again!) Democratic issues and candidates performed better than pundits predicted. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about tuning out the noise and focusing on saving our democracy. MOMocrats MOMochat is part of the Demcast family of podcasts.

We finally have a new Speaker of the House and he's kind of a nightmarish combination of insurrectionist and religious zealot. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about what just happened in the House and what it portends for the next year. They also talk about the escalation of Israel's response to Hamas and why the booming US economy gets no respect from the media. MOMocrats MOMochat is part of the Demcast family of podcasts.
