Special Counsel Jack Smith unsealed the Trump indictment issued yesterday. "We have one set of laws in this country, and they apply to everyone," he said. That includes the twice-impeached, now twice indicted former president, who will be tried on 37 counts of felony violations of our national security laws.

You know that big ole rocket ship that underwent a "rapid unscheduled disassembly" on Thursday? That's how the MOMocrats felt this week when it was announced that Dominion had settled its defamation case against Fox News.

Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about the comeuppance that didn't happen, and the possible satisfaction the country may get from the Smartmatic lawsuit now on deck. Among other topics, they also talked about this week's latest horrific gun events, where innocent people were shot for knocking on the wrong door, pulling into the wrong driveway, or getting into the wrong car.

A lot of legal news this week: From the Supreme Court stay on dueling opinions on mifepristone, to the former president's court appearance and many filings, to the Dominion defamation case against Fox News... right on up to new revelations about Justice Clarence Thomas - MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills had a lot to talk about.

Other news this week included the reinstatement of Justin Jones and Justin Pearson to the Tennessee House of Representatives and the arrest of the young National Guard airman suspected of disseminating top secret classified information on the Internet.

The wheels of justice grind slowly, but eventually they get there, and on Tuesday, Donald Trump was arraigned in New York on 34 felony counts. That night in Wisconsin, Janet Protasiewicz won her special election to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and progressive Brandon Johnson was elected mayor of Chicago. 

These are good results for democracy, say MOMocrats Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills - especially since our processes remain under siege by a Republican Party that is now blatantly authoritarian. This was in evidence on Thursday, when three Democratic state legislators were essentially put on trial by the GOP super-majority in the Tennessee House, for supporting their constituents' demonstration for gun reform. The two young Black lawmakers were ultimately expelled in an act that was watched by the world. The MOMocrats discussed this, new revelations about Clarence Thomas, and more.
