  • Giving Your Child A Voice with Elizabeth Lim of Scream, Run, Tell - 036

Every child should have a voice.

Growing up we were taught the good touch bad touch. The bathing suit area. Stranger Danger.

We were taught all these methods to help protect us.

But what happens if someone doesn't touch a child in their bathing suit area, yet the child still feels uncomfortable? What does the child do then?

In this episode, Elizabeth Lim shares how she teaches TRUE prevention of Child Sex Abuse meaning that it never happens no matter what.

If at any time the child feels uncomfortable with any of their 5 senses then they need to go and tell an adult. They can feel uncomfortable through sight, sound, touch, taste, and speech. Anywhere on their body is off limits.

Through this Elizabeth is giving children a voice to warn sexual predators that this child will reveal you for the monster you are.

Listen and learn how Elizabeth was able to create a way to empower our children so we can protect them.

  • Always Be Learning with Jessica Heiman of Plant Sax -034

I had the exciting opportunity to talk story with Jessica Heiman of Plant Sax.

Jessica is not new to having her own business. She actually started a business with her then-husband making fresh pasta here in Hawai'i.

Once her marriage ended that business closed.

Not expecting to start another business, Jessica began sewing canvas vases for plants. Something her friend had asked her to do.

Still not seeing it as a business. She began getting requests for her Plant Sax and soon she found herself owning another business.

Listen as Jessica shares her journey that led her to collaborate with some of Hawai'i's well-known artists. And also of someone stealing her creation of plant sax.

Yes, there is a knock-off of Jessica's sax.

Jessica opens up and shares how she dealt and rolled with the punches.

As a lifelong educator, Jessica is always following her passion for learning and educating others.

Jessica encourages everyone to never stop learning and never stop sharing your gift with others.

  • Believe In Your Worth with Jelayne Shelton - 033

All of us in Hawai'i know and love J. Shelton. She has used her platform to spread positivity to our kama'aina. We know her through her comedic videos, her joy of making people laugh and smile, and her countless references to her nani hole.😜

But, Jey hasn't only shown us her fun and light-hearted side.

She has also opened up to us about her battle with depression through her Facebook Live.

In this interview, Jey makes me laugh, of course. But she also opens up about her struggles through emotional and physical abuse.

Her struggles with being a single mother. Her struggles of being without a home. Her struggles of working multiple jobs and asking herself, "this cannot be it."

The truth bombs that she was throwing down. I wasn't even going to try and catch them.

If you haven't had a chance to listen to any of my episodes make this one the first one you listen to.

For now, I want you to listen to this very open side of Jey. Her story could be the inspiration you needed to hear today.

  • Million Dollar Mid Life with Olivera Milojkovic - 032

    Menopause.

An awakening. This was how it happened for Olivera Milojkovic.

In this interview, Olivera discusses how menopause led her to discover mid-life and a spiritual awakening that created ripple effects in her life. Ripple effects that led to her divorce.

This was a unique interview because Olivera opened up more about her divorce in this interview than her actual coaching business. It was a topic I could relate to because I have gone through a divorce myself.

I have seen women who are stay at home moms find and grow into the person they were meant to be. A woman that their husband may not understand and may be reluctant to grow with.

Listen as Olivera shares how she was able to find herself and still appreciate how her old self brought her new spiritual awakening.

  • How Failures Make You Stronger with Olivia Turner of Niu Boutique - 031

In today's episode, I get to talk with the co-owner of Niu Boutique in Wahiawa, Olivia Turner, aka Liv.

Liv shares how she was given the ultimatum to choose between her job or baby. The sad truth is this story is one we hear far too often. Every day mothers are given some kind of ultimatum where they have to choose their children or option B. Juggling motherhood and work often leaves mothers in situations where they need to choose between their children or their job. The ironic thing is that mothers work so they can provide for their children. Then why are they always left to choose between the two?

Excuse my language, but this is BULLSHIT! Why is being a mother viewed as something that makes a woman weak? Like, oh she has kids so there is no way she would be competent at her job as opposed to the other person without kids.

There was no doubt in Liv's mind that she would choose her son. In fact, it wasn't even an option. Take her with her son or she leaves.

In this episode, Liv opens up about how her stumbles and failures created the confident and resilient woman she is today. Listen to how she didn't allow someone to bully her because she was a mother. And she didn't allow her failures to define her dreams. Instead, she used them to build her mountain of success.

  • Becoming a 6-Figure Author with Toby Neal - 030

When I first started the 808 Business Moms podcast people were telling me that I was too niche. That I was pigeonholing myself. In some ways, I agreed with them. But in other ways, I felt a calling to serve my home state of Hawai'i.

That is exactly how Toby Neal felt.

Toby Neal is an award-winning, USA Today bestselling author.

And many people doubted her being successful as an author.

    Why?

Because she chose to write a crime series based in Hawai'i.

She was told it was too niche.

Instead of listening to those that doubted her creative talent. She ignored them and began writing what she knew.

Now that book that was too niche has sold over 1 million copies and continues to sell more each day. And Toby has made a comfortable living as a 6-figure earning author.

Listen as Toby shares her journey of how she found success when others doubted her.

  • Discovering who you are beyond mom with Mapuana Reed - 029

In this episode, I get to talk story with Mapuana Reed of Mapuana Reed Photography.

Mapuana opens up about how she felt she was losing her identity through motherhood and being a wife. Although, she loved being mommy and wifey she wanted to continue being Mapuana as well.

She finally opened up to her husband and told him that she wanted to try out photography. From there Mapuana set out on a search to find herself in photography.

This story that she shares is a very common one that resonates with many mothers. Too often we put ourselves last and put others first. I mean, if we put ourselves first then we are just being selfish, right?

    WRONG!

We cannot serve those we love if we are only fractions of ourselves. We need to remember to take care of ourselves so that we feel our best. That could be meditating for 2 minutes, or strapping your kids in the stroller and going for a walk. Even standing outside of your car for 2 minutes while your kids are strapped in their car seats with the AC going. Just finding those little pockets time to take of ourselves is what will help us be complete and whole.

If these moments seem to be few and far between then you need to find yourself a community. Mothers yearn for a community because being a mom can feel lonely on so many occasions.

If you are a mom that needs to find your tribe, join our 808 Business Moms ' ohana on Facebook. Here you will find a community of supportive mothers who can help you as you journey through 'ohana, business, and life.

  • Managing Your Money the Smart Way with Kamaile Heide of 101 Financial - 028

I get real candid with Kamaile Heide about 101 Financial. Kamaile is a dean of instructor for 101 Financial and has been with them for roughly 9 years.

Listen, this isn't some episode where I praise Kamaile for changing my life with 101 Financial. I am not a student of hers. This is an episode where I ask Kamaile questions that most of us are thinking. "Why would I pay money for you to teach me how to SAVE money?"

There was no prepping involved so she didn't know what I was going to ask her. And let me tell you the way she answers my questions with such confidence and knowledge. I wanted to sign up for 101 Financial during the interview. It made sense. But the number one thing that Kamaile said that I truly appreciated was this:

    "It's going to be hard."

The truth is with money we have a lot of limiting beliefs when it comes to it. And we must put ourselves in the proper mindset in order to create an abundance of money.

Honestly, what do you have to lose by listening to this episode with Kamaile? If everything you have been trying to do with your money still leaves you broke and living from paycheck to paycheck. Listen to what Kamaile has to share about 101 Financial. It could be the episode that puts in where you need to be with your finances and changes your life for the better.
