Don't you love looking under the hood of other businesses? Me too. That's why I'm excited to share with you my interview with system strategist Devin Lee. Devin designs and builds custom systems for quickly growing businesses. When a lot of us start out, we're just trying to make our business work, and as we start booking clients, as we start scaling and adding team members, we realized those pieces we duct taped together…they're slowing down our growth, and that's where Devin comes in.
In this episode, Devin and I talk about what's changed in her five plus years of working for herself, how she got clients then, and how she gets clients now, the funniest way she's gotten a client and the smart systems she's set up to keep her business running smoothly. From her referral system to her conversation a day tracker, you're gonna wanna take notes on this one!

I deleted Instagram but this isn’t just about them. It’s really about all social media and how I think it’s a little bit of a red herring when it comes to lead generation. This episode breaks down four reasons why I think we’re overweighting social in our marketing stack. Deleting Instagram has helped me recenter on what is actually working in my business.
Whether Instagram is draining your energy like it was for me or whether there’s another trend you’re not so sure about, this episode offers some (hopefully) clarifying ways to think about where your time goes.

Lead magnets are free resources you make available in exchange for someone’s email address. The idea is that you will build your list and turn some of those people into clients, but easier said than done! They are a common recommendation for small business owners these days but in my experience, they can be a black hole of frustration. The many moving parts of lead magnets make them a complex, unwieldy marketing play.
Before you create or change your lead magnet, pump the brakes and listen into these 5 reasons lead magnets are so hard to make high converting.

You may have noticed a lot of people talking about Google Analytics this week.
Long story short, Google changed over to a new version of analytics this week called Google Analytics 4. They announced that change a few years back but as of this week, the previous version of GA is no longer available to use. It’s a great time to check in on your website analytics, make sure it’s still tracking as you expect and consider whether it’s time to switch to an easier tool.
In this episode, I’ll share why Google Analytics is so popular, a few alternatives if you hate it as much as I do and what to look at when choosing your website analytics tools.

This week I interviewed Dana Publicover of growth marketing agency, P&Co. If you've listened to the show before, you know that Dana is my first guest. I asked Dana to be my first interview because I've followed her career for years and I've seen her transition from solopreneur to agency owner. Dana's worked with big names like NASA, McKinsey, Google, and Virgin, and now she guides scaling startups to growth stage through a deep understanding of how to talk to their customers.
In this episode, Dana and I talk about finding her first clients, what's shifted in 15 years of working for herself, what she does when she hits a client drought, and her timeless advice for staying in business.

Don't you love getting word of mouth for your business. How great would it be to drive more of it?
When we talk about virality, we often mean a social media post that gets wide visibility, but virality isn't just for social and it's not just for apps. Virality is the idea that everyone in your audience has the power to attract and convert many more.
In today's episode, I'm going to share a technique creators have used called “engagement groups.” Engagement groups are typically used for likes comments and shares, but we're going to pair them with your referral strategy, forming something I'm calling an amplifier network. This episode covers what an amplifier network is and how to start your own amplifier network.

When it comes to building trust with your audience, a glowing review goes a long way. But it can be hard to know when to collect client testimonials, how to collect them, and where to use them in your marketing. What if you could solve all of that with just one tool?
In today's episode, I share a demo for a tool I've recently discovered called Senja. Senja makes it so much easier to collect reviews, to display reviews, and to use them across your digital marketing.
If gathering reviews and leveraging them to close more sales has been painful for you, you're going to want to tune in to this episode!

Have you ever wondered why your marketing strategy didn't go as planned? It can be hard to know what went wrong.
Was it the channel? Was it the message? Was it the timing?
And if you don't know what went wrong, it's really hard to make it better.
In today's episode, I'm gonna share a technique I've used for years on growth projects when customers weren't buying as expected. We'll run through some different angles you can use and we'll talk about how you can bring data in so you can make your decisions about your next move based on evidence. I’d love to hear how you’re thinking about troubleshooting your marketing activities.

One of the major strategies I overlooked when I started my business was the idea of partnering with other business owners and creators. I had been doing this informally for many years before I started super easy, but I didn't realize how powerful that strategy had been in growing my career and my network. In today's episode, we'll talk about how partnering with other business owners, content creators, membership operators, and communities can help you grow your business and connect with your buyers much faster than you can do one by one.
I'd love to hear how you're thinking about partnerships and collaborations. See below for how to leave me a voicemail or drop me a DM on Instagram.
