When I was a monk I felt like I didn't have any time to myself. I've never been a big reader but I wanted to get into the practice. How do you get a task like reading done when you have no time? I talked to one of the older and wiser monks and he gave me a good piece of advice. Start reading one page a day, and in 4 months you would have read your 120-page book. Read that one page and digest every little detail. In 4 months you will know that book inside and out. Some monks were reading 8 - 10 books at a time. One monk was even reading the entire encyclopedia for years. The key here is to not be militant about just only reading one page a day. If you are near the end of the chapter and want to finish it, then go right ahead. It's all about managing time and being practical, and most importantly it's all about balance. If you can read 5 pages a day then do that, if you can read 1, then no big deal, do whatever fits your current lifestyle. https://MonkMindset.com
