The longer I am a milspouse, the more I appreciate the supportiveness of our global military spouse community. There are so many resources that are available to help you and I thrive as military spouses. And yet, sometimes it can be challenging to find those resources. That’s why I’m excited to bring you today’s conversation with the Executive Director of Mission: Milspouse, Dr. Sharita Knobloch.

Formerly known as the Army Wife Network, Mission: Milspouse recently rebranded and launched as a 501c3 nonprofit. Mission:Milspouse exists to globally empower military spouses with resources, supporting them to conquer adversity, foster confidence, and thrive in this military life.

Sharita is an Army spouse of over twelve years, mama of two, and a dissertation chair in the department of community care and counseling at Liberty University. In 2020, she was named the Armed Forces Insurance Fort Bliss Spouse of the Year.

Today’s guest can answer that question. Karamel McCoy is a veteran military spouse, a multi-passionate entrepreneur, the founder of Women Travel Abroad, cohost of the top 1% podcast, CEO Chronicalx, a business mentor and the owner of a co-working space in Kansas City. Whew!

Karamel is a firm believer that you have more expertise than you think! It might just take thinking a little outside the box. As a serial entrepreneur, Karamel has done everything from working a traditional job, to creating lip balm, starting a tax preparation service, and creating gift baskets. She once even tried her hand at starting a catering business (you’ll have to listen to hear how that one ended).

If you’ve been a part of this community for a while, you might know that I love coffee. Good coffee. Freshly roasted coffee that isn’t over-roasted and hasn’t been sitting on a shelf for months. Some might even call me a coffee snob. I prefer connoisseur.

It’s been almost 11 years since I dove into the world of coffee and entrepreneurship. And I’ve never really shared publicly about the experience and some of the biggest lessons that I learned along the way…until now.

In most places in the United States, the school year has ended. Whether or not you have school-aged kiddos, the end of the school year often signals a change to our rhythms and routines. Activities end. New ones begin. The sun stays up later. We move. Or go on a trip. Or just enjoy the change of pace.

But let me ask, what do you want out of this summer?

Because what you get out of this summer is up to you. And with a little intentionality, you can have a summer that moves you closer to your goals and dreams.  (Yep, even in the middle of a crazy PCS).

Maybe what you’re after this summer is just the chance to rest. Or maybe you want to invest in your kids a little more. Perhaps you want to finally launch that business. Or find a way to be present with your kids, while still working from home.

If you want to be intentional and productive with your summer, then you need to carve out time for one thing…a morning routine.

In this episode we discuss why this routine is so important, and ways to structure it to give you the desired outcome you are after. A morning routine does not have to be rigid, but carving out time for this routine might be the difference-maker between a summer of joy and a summer of exhaustion.
