Paxton is a businessman, entrepreneur and philanthropist, family man who has served in the entertainment, music, sports and production industries for over 30 years.

He is a minority owner of the Washington Nationals Baseball club and currently serves as chairman of the Washington Nationals Founding Partners Group.

For 16 years, Baker served as the executive vice president and general manager of Centric (formerly BETJ), a BET network targeting African American and multicultural adults, owned by Viacom Media.

In 2018, Baker launched the Washington, D.C., office of Liquid Soul, the agency behind the marketing and promotion of such blockbuster films as Black Panther and Wrinkle in Time.

To call what Paxton has accomplished throughout his career amazing would be an understatement and as a black professional who aspires to do similar things in my career, I can't tell you how excited I am to have this conversation!

They were working together at the Baltimore Development Corporation when they identified a problem that only 5% of the market had taken advantage of residential energy choice. They asked themselves "What if we could help people and businesses make informed decisions about energy? What if we could do it in an unbiased and transparent way? What if we could create jobs for others? What if we could make a meaningful impact in our community?"

They pulled together $10,000 in 2010 and started MD Energy Advisors to provide demand and supply side energy solutions for businesses, utilities and government. They also founded PointClickSwitch, a proprietary online platform that helps residential customers in deregulated energy markets save on utility costs through comparison shopping.

I'm always interested in hearing successful business stories and what they've been able to overcome and persevere through to get to where they are today.

We're back today for another episode of More Than A Title. I'm excited about this episode as one of my closest friends in the industry pulling up to share game and discuss our personal branding journey!

For those that don't know I worked with Lee a couple years ago at an agency, and immediately we hit it off on our first conversation. I remember being with him before starting the position and we sat around for hours talking about the industry, life and different ways we can excel in our roles/career.

That eventually led us down the path of social selling, developing our personal brands in an effort to drive more sales. If you're a day 1 connection you probably saw us on here and the traction we were having. We were onto something special.

I'm fortunate because I know how difficult it is to start especially by yourself when your constantly questioning where to begin but we had each other's backs and just started creating.

We learned the platform together, made a bunch of great content. If it wasn't for those early moments of us grinding together I probably wouldn't have stayed on here as consistently as I did.
