But because each person is different with varying risk tolerances, financial habits, and understanding, each one can draw different conclusions from the same information.

“The bottom line is that we need to take responsibility for our financial decisions,” Reb says. “Responsibility for our finances rests with each one of us, not our financial coaches or advisors. So even though we would love someone to tell us what to do with our money, we need to do the work—for ourselves and our families.”

Do you think God is interested in your comfort? What if He is not as interested as you are? On episode #336 of “Let’s Talk Money with Dave and Reb”, the co-hosts look at how pursuing ease and comfort can lead us into financial trouble. Always going after the comfortable life can be doing more harm than good, especially as it can feed a lack of motivation, purpose and meaning in our lives. Conversely, people who face life’s adversities without running from them, are able to build perseverance and resilience even in their finances. 

“What is it we are pursuing?” David asks listeners. “God is interested in our hearts, and I don’t think He is as interested in our comfort as we are. He wants us to build character and resilience and being aware of what He is doing in our midst is very important especially as we struggle financially.”

Reb also suggests that seeking God’s Kingdom won’t always lead us to comfort, but it will lead us to what is good, and God wants what is good for us.
