**Trigger: This episode covers mental health disorders and discussion of suicide.* In this episode, Missi and Cara discuss perinatal mental health, including mood and anxiety disorders. These PMADs include OCD, posttraumatic stress disorder, and bipolar disease. Cara and Missi share screening recommendations, signs and symptoms, risk factors, and basic treatment modalities. Unfortunately, suicide is the leading cause of death in the perinatal period--during pregnancy and up to 1 year after birth. The aim of this episode is to support providers in screening, assessing, diagnosing, and treating PMADs, as well as knowing when to seek expert clinical care.
