Sara Anthony is the kind of person you meet once and instantly adore. When Scott and I talk about the kind of family we hope to have in the future the Anthonys are one of the families we cite as inspiration! In this episode, you'll hear about what Sara calls her morning routine and how to set your own, encouragement for setting goals that stick, sailing stories, and a little marriage and parenting advice. This time with Sara genuinely felt like the two of us sitting in her beautiful home chatting, so take a seat and join in!

BJ Thompson is an absolute legend and, truth be told, this conversation felt like a one-on-one coaching session (that you get to listen to). BJ was behind one of the largest Christian movements in modern history (the 116 Movement) that reached millions of people. He has continued as a coach, author (Awaken a Better You: 4 Simple Steps to Create the Life You Want), executive director for a nonprofit (Build a Better Us) all alongside his gorgeous family living in Atlanta, Georgia. BJ's goal is to help individuals step into all that God can do in us and then coach on how to release that into the world around us. In this episode we talk about what observations BJ has about this generation, why change is so hard, how to make the most of being single, and what it looks like to live an awake life.
Be ready, because this episode will have you running laps around your room and ready to change the world.

This is part two of a two-week episode series that I hope expands our understanding of what the Bible has to say about women. Last week, we set the stage with God's intention in the creation of women (ezer kenegdo) and how that is reflected throughout scripture. Today, we dive into specifics about what this practically looks like for women in 2023 – including women in a variety of life seasons and what this means for women in leadership/the church.

Our interpretation of what the Bible has to say about who women are, what a woman's purpose is and our roles in society, church, leadership, family and communities is often unclear at best and destructive at worst. Dana Bort and Sherri Brown led a Biblical Womanhood Retreat that I had the privilege of attending for a few years and their perspective of what God thinks about women was very different from the assumptions I thought I knew. This is part one of a two-week episode series that I hope expands your understanding of what the Bible has to say about women – throughout history and in 2023.

In honor of 2022, here is one of my favorite episodes of all-time! We originally released this episode in October to celebrate the third birthday of the podcast by revisiting favorite moments from seasons one and two. As this year comes to a close, hopefully these segments and stories remind you of a few of your own highlights from life these last twelve months.

This is one of my all-time favorite episodes we have created so far in the life of this podcast! This episode features a mentor/hero/inspiration of mine named Lisa Jennett – who we affectionately call Sunshine. She is the creator of Cheers and Amen and during Scott and I's time in Texas, the small group we were a part of that met in her home was what felt the most like family to us. Since then, Sunshine and her husband, Tank, have become even more dear to us.
Please enjoy this re-release of one of my favorite conversations so far, Cheers + Amen with Lisa Jennett (Sunshine).

Kelly Streiff has a strong voice of encouragement and hope for everyone, but especially those who resonate with the loss of a child. The two of us have been connected for years through sharing a similar passion and practice of speaking, but over the last six months our stories connected in a deeper way. What I love about Kelly is that she is clear about the pain she has experienced, but she is equally – if not more – bold about the hope, goodness, and life that is still available to us even in the middle of the story. This episode has already been a life source for me in this season and I believe it will speak right to where you are too.

Dr. Emily McGowin is one of my favorite professors from my graduate program at Wheaton. She is brilliant and has a gift for discussing theological truths in a way that intersects with real, everyday life. She portrays truth about God with clarity while holding tension for how that is reflected this side of eternity. I distinctly remember the conversations from class continuing on over dinner and into the evenings with my cohort while we metabolized the rich theological concepts from class that day – which is exactly what this episode felt like. Dr. Emily McGowin is an Assistant Professor of Theology at Wheaton College, she serves as priest in the Anglican Church of North America, as well as a writer and speaker alongside being a wife and mother of three (ages 13, 12, and 9).

A little head's up for anyone listening whose heart feels tender towards miscarriage, this episode includes Scott and I's story with our second pregnancy loss.
From that disclaimer, you will know that this episode shares our recent experience with losing our second pregnancy. Alongside where we are at with everything, I wanted to take space to talk through some of my thoughts and hopes here. Even though we are heartbroken we feel so much love from our friends and family, as well as a sense of peace with the Lord. We're expectant while we continue to wait to be expecting. Thank you in advance for your kindness to us. My heart is with anyone who is walking into the holidays this year holding the loss of a loved one – especially a little life you were expecting.
