With Vannifar defeated, the party gets ready to venture forth into the unknown plane of Ixalan, where the artifact known as the Immortal Sun waits. The Sun is the key to curing their guild leaders still afflicted with Phyresis, an otherwise uncurable and catastrophic disease. Mizzix the the goblin wizard prepares her portal for ascension, and our heroes get ready to blast off.
Sadly we lost last week's episode which marked the end of Szithis the druid's reign in the undercity. The former mentor of Zola (the gorgon girl he'd taken under his wing) resurfaced, under the influence of the zombifying mutagenic disease known as Phyresis. Szithis was reaping what he sowed, having let that mentor die against the phyrexian agent in the last arc, and dumping her body into contaminated water. All so he could take legal guardianship of Zola and force his villainous nature into a heroic face heel turn, a move that simultaneously sentimental and selfish.
Part of this recording is missing :( but suffice to say our heroes have reached the final encounter of this dungeon; Frankie peanuts himself.
Frankie springs a Boss Rush on the party, rolling out some of the greatest hits against our heroes.
Alpha switches sides, Vali meets a friend of his mom's, and Neheb goes down for the count.
Our heroes push further into Frankie's tower. Frankie puts the bonds of the party to the test in his most diabolical test yet.
The party ventures deeper (higher?) into Frankie Peanuts' tower.
Hasim falls out of the ceiling and immediately solves a puzzle, Louis has to figure out a problem without magic, and Szithis reminds the party he is in fact blind.
Frankie Peanuts' conspiracy to undermine the Orzhov comes to head as he makes aggressive moves to eliminate the friends of ravnica. It's time to go on the offensive. The DM also begins his ill-fated courtship with VoiceMod, which adds a lot less to the experience than he thinks it does.
Alpha has an unwanted visitor, Szithis teaches Zola a valuable lesson, and Louis becomes concerned the FireMind may have dementia.
Our heroes have the fight of their lives against a lesser Eldrazi titan as it assaults Szithis' compound, but it doesn't end in a way any of them could have predicted. Certainly not in a way our DM could have guessed.
Downtime continues, with each hero spending time in their Neighborhood of choice.
Szithis gets too close to an artifact source of eldrazi magic, and pays the price. Nahiri pays Ravnica a visit and makes waves in the monster hunting community. The group pays some mercenaries and gets their stronghold ready for an assault against it.
